Duruvan endures condescending treatment from his superior Ganapathiram, and caste bias colors how others treat him at the NCC camp. The warden Victoria sympathizes with him, but respect remains hard to win. This tension sets the stage for his decision to train a tough group of cadets.

He selects Kalpana, Ajitha, Susheela, Jennifer, and Thulasi for an expedition, hoping to instill discipline. The cadets respond by posting a complaint to Ganapathiram accusing Duruvan of unsafe conduct and deposit the note in the complaint box.

During preparations, the girls buy condoms and other items, and casually drive the jeep down a steep slope. The vehicle is damaged, forcing the group to rethink their route and vow to camp for the night.

With the vehicle lost, the group decides to stay in the forest for the night and take an alternate route the next morning. Duruvan's presence begins to earn their grudging respect as they share training and stories in rough conditions.

Kalpana spots two foreigners in military gear in the forest, signaling a wider threat. Duruvan suspects they are trying to sabotage India's space mission and may head toward the satellite research station.

Duruvan tells Ajitha to return to inform the authorities and bring reinforcements. The five cadets refuse to abandon him and decide to stay with him on the mission.

Upon reaching the opposite bank, the group realises they are facing a force of 16 mercenaries. Duruvan analyses that their target is the space mission and must be stopped.

Ajitha is sent back to warn officials, but on the way back Susheela falls into quicksand and dies. The group continues with the grim cost of the mission in sight.

Duruvan leads the troop with precise navigation to outrun the mercenaries and begins obstructing their advance by cutting trees to slow them. He also arranges a makeshift land mine network using mines the group has acquired, creating casualties to deter the attackers.

Anderson sends two men to scout, but Duruvan kills them, signaling their determination. He then engages Thompson, George, and Edwin, killing George and Edwin while Thompson escapes.

That night, Duruvan and his troops breach the mercenaries camp and seize one of the two boxes they carry, hoping it contains missile information. In the morning, Anderson and Benny discover two dead men and the missing box, fueling anger and a plan to launch the rocket.

In the climactic showdown, Duruvan and Anderson fight and Duruvan defeats him, while the girls race to stop the counter missile. Duruvan extends the countdown by 25 seconds and redirects the missile to the left, enabling the space rocket to launch. The counter missile detonates in the forest, and the mission succeeds though Duruvan remains unrecognized because of his caste.

Ganapathiram is publicly honored for bravery, while Duruvan returns to the camp to train a new batch of cadets. The five cadets bid tearful goodbyes, remembering Ajitha and Susheela as the mission's sacrifices.
