In the vibrant heart of Manhattan, Marty (a high-powered literary agent accustomed to her solitude) finds her escape in vivid dreams that whisk her away to the sunlit landscapes of Provence, France. Unbeknownst to Marty, Marie - a widow content with her quiet life alongside her two daughters - has been experiencing similar daydreams that mirror Marty’s reality. As the two women plunge deeper into the enigma of their intertwined fates, they begin to believe that the other might simply be a figment of their imagination.

Marty’s psychiatrist, Dr. Peters, theorizes that her dreams stem from a longing for a simpler existence, filled with the joys of motherhood. Contrastingly, Marie’s therapist, Dr. Langer, deduces that she craves the thrill and excitement that lie beyond her tranquil household.

By sheer happenstance, Marty finds herself in a business connection with Aaron, a brilliant accountant, and their camaraderie soon blossoms into a romance.
