Paranormal Activity: Tokyo Night

During a stay in San Diego in March 2007, Haruka Yamano is involved in a car crash that leaves her with two broken legs. She is brought back to Tokyo under the care of her younger brother Koichi as their father Shigeyuki leaves on a business trip. The accident sets the family on a downward spiral of fear and dependence.

Back in Tokyo, Koichi begins filming and notices the wheelchair can slide even with its wheels locked. He suspects a paranormal presence and places a mound of salt in Haruka's room as a precaution, only to find it scattered the next day. The first signs that something malevolent is at work begin to emerge around the house.

During reviews of the footage, several objects move on their own and a glass cup shatters during dinner. A pattern forms: the items rearrange themselves whenever the recordings are watched. Koichi's curiosity grows as the haunting becomes more tangible.

Jun Nagoshi and his girlfriend Misuzu visit, and Misuzu experiences a terrifying episode, screaming and foaming as she investigates Haruka’s room. The incident pushes Koichi to seek help from a Shinto priest to perform a purification ceremony. The ritual offers a temporary lull in the activity.

The Shinto purification ceremony reduces the activity temporarily, granting the siblings two peaceful days. The sense of safety remains fragile as the haunting lingers around the house. The ritual's protective veil is short-lived.

When their father Shigeyuki returns home, the strange occurrences intensify again. The family reels as the haunting presses closer, testing their nerves and resilience. The mood shifts from uneasy calm to mounting dread.

On night 12, Haruka’s wheelchair slides toward the camera and the footage is cut, signaling that the entity remains active. The siblings confront a haunting that refuses to be contained by ordinary means. The house seems under permanent watch of an unseen force.

The Shinto priest dies of a heart attack after leaving the family, removing the last line of ritual protection. The haunting grows more violent in the absence of the rite. The family must face the escalating danger on their own.

As Haruka’s condition worsens, Koichi wonders if the demon linked to the accident in America has followed them home. The fear intensifies as the family struggles to understand the source of the terror.

Haruka recalls a hospital bite mark, and Koichi places a crucifix in her hand. When he leaves, Haruka drops it and it bursts into flame, causing shattered windows and deepening Koichi's fear. The demon seems to unleash its power in a visible sign.

Around night 15, Haruka lingers by Koichi’s bedside while he heads downstairs and discovers their father’s corpse hidden in a closet. Haruka becomes furious and violent, forcing Koichi to flee and hail a taxi for safety. The pursuit ends when Haruka appears in front of the taxi.

As Koichi escapes, Haruka suddenly steps into the path of a taxi and is struck, sending the car into a crash. The taxi driver is killed in the collision. Koichi survives, but the night leaves him more shaken.

Koichi returns to a funeral home to pay his respects, believing Haruka has died in the crash. When he lifts the sheet, the body is the taxi driver, not Haruka, and he is dragged into an inky void while Haruka grins demonically in the background. The horror makes its final point before the scene cuts.

The epilogue states that Koichi and Shigeyuki were found dead and that Haruka’s whereabouts remain unknown. The film leaves a lingering sense of unanswered questions about the true danger that haunts the Yamano family.
