During a stay in San Diego in March 2007, Haruka Yamano is involved in a car crash that leaves her with two broken legs. She is brought back to Tokyo under the care of her younger brother Koichi as their father Shigeyuki leaves on a business trip. Back in Tokyo, Koichi begins filming and notices the wheelchair can slide even with its wheels locked. He suspects a paranormal presence and places a mound of salt in Haruka's room as a precaution, only to find it scattered the next day.
