Over the Hedge

In a desolate picnic area in Indiana, a clever raccoon named RJ decides to pull off an audacious heist to steal food from a sleeping bear named Vincent. After failing miserably at raiding a vending machine, RJ's plan is nearly foiled when Vincent wakes up and sees the destruction RJ caused.

In a desperate move to avoid dire consequences from Vincent, RJ proposes to replenish the bear's food supply before the upcoming full moon. Vincent reluctantly agrees to RJ's proposal but warns him of severe repercussions should he fail.

As spring arrives, a group of woodland creatures, led by a wise turtle named Verne, awaken from hibernation. To their dismay, they discover their forest has been transformed into a sprawling residential area, prompting RJ to step in and lead them in scouring for food.

Taking advantage of the confusion caused by the new developments, RJ encourages Verne and his family to scavenge from human inhabitants. Despite Verne's skepticism, the other animals are convinced and join RJ in gathering food.

Gladys Sharp, the president of the local Homeowners Association, becomes aware of the animal invasion and takes drastic measures. She hires the exterminator Dwayne LaFontant, intensifying the stakes for RJ and his newfound friends.

In a chaotic chase with an overly excited Rottweiler named Nugent, the group's stash of food is inadvertently lost. Fearing the return of the food would bring the exterminator's attention, RJ shifts the blame onto Verne, leading to internal conflict within their group.

As the full moon rises, RJ observes Dwayne’s covert operations in Gladys' yard, where he sets up illegal traps. This day marks a critical point as RJ understands the risks associated with Dwayne's methods and their implications for the woodland crew.

Despite their earlier conflicts, Verne and the other woodland creatures decide to reconcile with RJ. Their unity strengthens as they face the challenges posed by Gladys and Dwayne together.

RJ's curiosity leads him to discover a hidden stash of food in Gladys' house. In a risky raid, Hammy the squirrel disarms the Depelter Turbo while Stella disguises herself as a cat to help the team sneak in and gather supplies.

RJ, in a moment of panic, confesses his original intentions to his friends, just as Gladys appears. The situation escalates when Dwayne captures Verne and the other animals, leaving RJ to make a dangerous choice.

To save his friends from Dwayne, RJ bravely delivers food to Vincent but faces the threat of Dwayne's van. In a frantic attempt to help, he orchestrates a car crash, hindering their pursuer.

Following RJ's actions, an infuriated Vincent retaliates, leading to RJ pushing a cart directly into Gladys' home in chaos. As Verne regroups with the other animals, they find themselves in hot pursuit by Vincent, Gladys, and Dwayne.

In a moment of high tension, Hammy, fueled by an energy drink, reactivates the Depelter Turbo, capturing their adversaries. The clever teamwork allows RJ to use Verne’s shell for protection against Vincent's advances.

After the dust settles, Gladys faces the repercussions of her illegal traps while Vincent is taken away by animal control. This marks a pivotal resolution in their chaotic adventure against human threats.

In the aftermath of their adventures, RJ reunites with his woodland friends, including Tiger, who remains enamored with Stella despite her hidden identity. As winter approaches, Hammy reveals an unexpectedly plentiful stash of nuts, securing their provisions for the colder months ahead.
