Inside a cave decorated with discarded treasures, Sonic dreams of a different life—one that doesn't involve a planet filled with foul-smelling mushrooms. His solitude stings deeply, especially after an exhilarating night of baseball leads him to inadvertently unleash an electromagnetic pulse that disrupts power across the entire Pacific Northwest. This event draws the attention of the wily Doctor Robotnik, a brilliant yet deranged roboticist seeking to exploit Sonic's speed for global domination. The U.S. Department of Defense commissions Robotnik to investigate this outage, showcasing his formidable talent with drones.
While Robotnik gets closer to discovering Sonic's presence, the blue hedgehog ends up in a bind after being tranquilized by Tom Wachowski in a moment of confusion, causing his precious bag of rings to portal to the Transamerica Pyramid.
