Avinash was killed because he was investigating Bilal Khawaja's corruption related to the Asian Olympics Games. Bilal, as the Games Chairman, had been accepting bribes through contractors, and Avinash was gathering evidence. Rather than letting the investigation expose him, Bilal had Avinash shot in the chest and then deliberately positioned his body in front of an oncoming car to make it look like a road accident.

After Avinash was killed, Kilol's henchmen tried to steal his body from the morgue to plant bullet proof that would implicate Bilal. During the police chase that followed, the culprits panicked and shoved the body into the trunk of the nearest car, which happened to belong to the two investigative journalists PP and AIDS. The body landed in their car completely by accident.

Bilal arranged a fake cremation with national honors using a stand-in corpse to destroy the real evidence. Since Avinash's postmortem was about to reveal the truth about his murder, Bilal needed to eliminate the body before the examination could prove it was homicide rather than an accident. The ceremony was meant to project legitimacy while ensuring the actual cause of death could never be proven.

Monsoon was secretly working with Bilal while appearing to support her journalists. She used PP and AIDS to carry out the body swap plan, then sold the body to Bilal for money. When the plan started falling apart, she fired PP and AIDS to cover her tracks, all while maintaining her role as their boss in the newsroom. She was ultimately revealed to be colluding with Sherry to orchestrate corruption around the Commonwealth Games.

Sherry stole the evidence CD from Bilal and arranged for an IAS officer to deliver it to Kilol. However, the officer disliked Bilal and deliberately misrouted the CDs, he gave the sex CD to PP (meant for Kilol) and sent the hymns CD to Kilol (meant for PP). This accidental mix-up led to PP eventually discovering the recording of Sherry and Monsoon discussing their corruption plan.

The footbridge collapse was significant because Avinash's body had been hidden inside it during Bilal's cover-up operation. When the bridge fell, PP and AIDS realized the body was concealed within the structure and rushed to retrieve it from the accident site. This recovery gave them crucial evidence that could expose the true cause of Avinash's death.

The smoking gun was a recording on a CD that contained a conversation between Sherry and Monsoon discussing their joint plan to orchestrate corruption around the Commonwealth Games. PP found this CD in his car after the CDs got mixed up. The live recording exposed how Bilal, Sherry, Monsoon, and Kilol were all involved in the conspiracy to cover up Avinash's murder and manipulate the media.

After escaping the car explosion set up by Kilol's men, PP and AIDS found themselves surrounded by all the villains. Using a mobile broadcast van, PP went live on television and compelled Bilal, Kilol, Sherry, and Monsoon to confess to their crimes on air. The live broadcast forced them to reveal the entire conspiracy, leading to their immediate arrest by police.

Kilol wanted Avinash's body to prove Bilal was responsible for the murder. His plan was to plant bullet evidence in the corpse that would contradict the accident theory and destroy Bilal's credibility. By controlling the body, Kilol could shape the narrative and use the scandal to force Bilal's resignation and gain political advantage.

Monsoon criticized PP and AIDS for their Adrak Ganesh story, which was a humorous on-air mistake that did not age well. This incident represented their previous failed investigative work. Monsoon pushed them to find a bigger scandal involving high-level corruption that could boost her channel's TRPs and elevate their careers.
