Banesh travels to Pune and immediately learns that a robbery has taken place at Bha. Ra.'s residence. He notes that police arrival will be delayed by about three hours due to a nearby political event, giving him a window to investigate. He begins to search for clues around the house and its surroundings.

Banesh examines the evidence and follows multiple leads that point to a young boy. He discovers that Bhu-Bhu, an orphan, is being coerced into stealing to help a larger criminal plan. Banesh resolves to help the boy rather than arrest him.

Banesh intervenes just in time to save Bhu-Bhu from the goons and threats. The boy is brought back to Bha. Ra.'s home, where the writer chooses to adopt him. As a reward for his courage, Bha. Ra. gives Banesh a pen that he used to write many of his books.

Amol reveals that he is a medical entrance coach who was coerced into acting as a dummy for another student. He describes coming from a poor family and being enticed by money to participate in the scheme. He warns that Appa orchestrates the manipulation of exam admissions.
