Night Always Comes

Lynette and her mother Doreen head to the bank to finalize the $25,000 down payment for their Portland house. Doreen is a no-show on the signing, leaving Lynette to face the unravelling plan. Upon returning home, Lynette discovers Doreen spent the money on a new car instead.

Facing eviction and mounting urgency, Lynette reaches out to her former client Scott for a loan. He refuses to help, but she spends the night with him anyway. He tosses in a larger amount than usual as a 'goodbye,' hinting at the fragile deal she's trying to salvage.

Scott accidentally leaves his car keys behind, and Lynette impulsively takes his Mercedes. She parks the car under a bridge in a panic, then returns to her own car as a frantic voicemail cascade begins. This marks the first major turn where she tries to outpace her troubles.

Desperate for cash, Lynette asks her escort friend Gloria for the $3,000 she owes. Gloria reluctantly contributes $500 from a safe, but it's far from enough. The exchange sets up the next attempt to raid a larger stash.

Lynette and Cody flee to a diner to count the cash. They discover the haul is short by about $6,000, barely enough to cover the down payment. The tally reinforces the gravity of their situation.

Lynette decides to salvage funds by selling Scott's Mercedes and collecting Kenny on the way. When she locates the car, Cody turns on her, taking the bag and Mercedes keys. The betrayal leaves her momentarily reeling and plotting the next move.

Lynette wakes ex-boyfriend Tommy to sell as much as possible from the bag. He can't pay that night but has a contact who could buy the cocaine for $3,000. A tense confrontation reveals Tommy's past abuse at 16, and he demands she never contact him again.

The buyer Blake hosts a late-night suburban party. When Blake pressures Lynette into sex for part of the money, she hits him and searches for Kenny. Blake accuses her of theft, leading to a chaotic moment where she falls through a glass table and is thrown out.

Lynette and Kenny return home before sunrise to face Doreen, who reveals she spent the money and wants neither the house nor to keep it. She accuses Lynette of past mistakes, including her relationship with Tommy at 16.

David informs Lynette he has sold to another buyer who offered more, signaling another setback for the house. Lynette comforts Kenny, telling him she must go away for a while, but promises to visit. They share a final kiss of love as she leaves cash and a note for Doreen, asking her to take care of Kenny and insisting she will keep fighting.
