Mill of the Stone Women

Writer Hans van Arnhim arrives on a remote Dutch island to investigate the legend of the Mill of the Stone Women. He plans to research the story of the sculptures created by Professor Gregorius Wahl. Hans settles into the mill's attic, where Gregorius allows him to stay while exploring the mystery.

Hans encounters and quickly falls in love with Elfie, the daughter of Professor Wahl. Elfie is described as attractive but ill, and her condition seems to be a source of concern for the professor. Their romantic relationship begins to develop amid the eerie surroundings of the mill.

Hans' girlfriend, Liselotte, visits him at the mill and is disturbed by the collection of female sculptures, which she finds unsettling. Her reaction results in her fainting, highlighting the disturbing atmosphere surrounding the sculptures. Hans begins to notice the strange atmosphere of the mill.

Professor Wahl informs Hans that Elfie suffers from a mysterious illness that claimed her mother's life as well. The professor reveals that their doctor, Dr. Loren Bohlem, provides round-the-clock care for Elfie, underscoring the seriousness of her health condition.

Hans attempts to break off his romance with Elfie, but she becomes hysterical and threatens him. During her fit, she collapses and begins to emit blood from her mouth, which alarms Hans, signaling that something is profoundly wrong with her.

Elfie suddenly dies after her collapse and exhibits strange lesions on her face. Hans experiences haunting visions of Elfie in the attic, and hears music believed to be played by her, indicating her ghostly presence and the supernatural undertones of the story.

Hans, guided by what appears to be Gregorius' disembodied voice, finds Elfie’s corpse lying in a nearby tomb. When he returns to the mill, Elfie unexpectedly appears alive and unscathed, deepening the mystery and confusion surrounding her supposed death.

Gregorius and Dr. Bohlem reveal they drugged Hans to make him appear insane and justify his removal from the mill. They have kidnapped a local woman, Annelore, whom they kill to transfuse her blood into Elfie, attempting to revive her as part of their twisted art project.

The villains prepare to transfuse Elfie with blood from Annelore, whose corpse is used as part of Gregorius’s sculptures. Bohlem secretly develops an antidote for Elfie, but Gregorius fights him and ultimately kills Bohlem, attempting to take over the procedure himself.

Hans and Ralf discover that Liselotte has gone missing inside the mill. They find Annelore's corpse being prepared for display and manage to rescue Liselotte from the basement operating room, thwarting the villains’ ongoing horrific plans.

Dr. Gregorius, enraged after Bohlem's death and his failed attempt to revive Elfie, sets fire to the mill. As chaos erupts, Hans, Liselotte, and Ralf escape the burning building amidst the destruction of the sculptures and Gregorius’s tragic end.

Hans, Liselotte, and Ralf manage to flee as Gregorius perishes in the flames. The mill is engulfed in fire, ending the sinister chapter and the terror caused by Gregorius’s twisted art of human sculptures.
