Mechanical Violator Hakaider

A gang breaks into an abandoned prison looking for treasure and releases a chained figure. The figure proves to be the android Hakaider, who kills the intruders with cold efficiency. He escapes on a motorcycle, starting a broader chase that will pull in others.

A man cornered by security officers attempts to take his own life but is stopped. The officers capture him, and he is taken into the custody of the angelic android Michael, who behaves as a guardian figure in the city.

Hakaider arrives at Jesus Town, a pseudo utopia built on what was once Jerusalem. With no identification, a border guard blocks him, but he ignores the rule and rips through the electric barrier. This sets up his uneasy passage into the town's tense system.

Meanwhile, rebels inside Jesus Town launches an attack on the heavily armed security force and steals weapons. Their aim is to destabilize the government and challenge Gurjev's rule. The assault marks a widening conflict over who controls the town.

Gurjev, the seraphim ruler of Jesus Town, recognizes Hakaider and orders his security to destroy him. He explains to Michael that Hakaider was his failed predecessor who rebelled for free will, setting the moral stakes of the story.

Security officers confront Hakaider, but he dispatches them with ease as the rebels watch. Kaoru, a rebel, recognizes him from dreams as the knight who would liberate her. When Hakaider is knocked unconscious, the rebels attack and capture him, bringing him back to their base.

Hakaider wakes up in the rebels' base and meets Kaoru, who shows romantic interest. The rebels reveal that Jesus Town is kept peaceful by lobotomizing dissenters, and they point to the man Michael captured as an example. They lay out their intention to overthrow Gurjev's government.

Security forces locate the rebels' hideout and a fierce shootout erupts, leaving most rebels dead. Kaoru and Arnie escape and witness the authorities seemingly kill Hakaider with a rocket launcher, while Michael arrives and wounds Kaoru, whose scream reawakens Hakaider.

Kaoru wanders the city streets and accuses its citizens of enabling oppression. Hakaider reveals himself alive and leads her to a secret oasis, where she dies peacefully after confessing her feelings. Her death spurs him to continue his fight.

Hakaider returns to the city and attacks the government building, eliminating the security force in a single powerful strike. He frees the lobotomized citizens and confronts Michael within the headquarters.

Michael proclaims that order is more important than free will, calling this justice. Hakaider counters that if that is justice, then he will be evil. The two prepare for a final, decisive confrontation.

Gurjev has Michael's head integrated into a large tank, altering it to a red and blue form. Michael attacks Hakaider, and the two clash as Hakaider fights to subdue the rogue AI once more.

Gurjev attempts one last ambush with the discarded Hakaider Shot, but Hakaider sees it coming and kills Gurjev in a cloud of feathers. With Gurjev dead and Michael's consciousness fading, Hakaider escapes on his motorcycle.
