Balwant, known as Ballu, is the village's muscular but pragmatic figure and Lilaram's loyal ally. Kanhaiya is Ballu's loyal assistant who harbors a secret romance with Sukhmani. He agrees to join the scheme hoping for financial gain while balancing affection and loyalty. His willingness to take risks reflects the moral ambiguity of the plan and the allure of a better life.

Sukhmani is the object of Kanhaiya's affection and becomes entangled in the scheme as emotions complicate loyalties. Joseph is a solitary man who becomes an unintended victim and then a target in the mistaken kidnapping sequence. His presence adds a layer of isolation and misfortune to the group’s increasingly risky schemes.

Karamkali is the Thakurani who holds power in the village and wields control over the villagers' livelihoods. Her loan of goats and her position as debt holder frame the social dynamics and the stakes of keeping the lottery scheme afloat.
