Ten years after the events of the original Kite, the story centers on Kōichi Doi, a Defy Foods researcher charged with testing a diet that could preserve bone mass in zero gravity. He boards the International Space Station, where a troubling situation unfolds: widowed father Orudo Noguchi and another crew member are found exposed to space radiation and ordered to discontinue missions. In a last request, Noguchi entrusts Doi with delivering a birthday bracelet to his daughter, Monaka Noguchi, whom he has not seen in four years, hoping the small token will bridge a growing distance between them.
Back in Tokyo, the night hums with danger as two police officers chase a violent criminal named Tsuin through crowded streets and into a train station. After he shoots two bystanders in the women’s restroom and takes a young girl hostage, darkness falls and he is ambushed by the female assassin known as “the Angel of Death,” who swiftly overpowers him, leaving a scatter of white feathers on the floor and his lifeless body behind. That same evening, Monaka, a girl who now carries the same lethal edge as Sawa, works at Apollo 11, a maid cafe that attracts a perverted regular patron. In public she plays a nerdy, clumsy high school girl, a persona designed to keep her true nature hidden behind a harmless facade, while at work she becomes a target for harassment from the regulars.
Monaka’s world is further complicated by her older coworker, Manatsu Mukai, who does not tolerate the abuse she endures and pushes back in tough, memorable ways. The cafe’s manager later receives a call from the “real” Tsuin, who names Rin Gaga, a police officer pursuing the pedophile that night, as the other killer in question. The revelation threads tension through Monaka’s fragile balance between two lives and the lurking danger that follows her every step.
When Monaka returns home, she discovers the bracelet—crafted from Martian rocks—waiting for her, a tangible link to her father. Meanwhile, the ISS crew’s situation deteriorates rapidly: Orudo and another infected crew member mutate into brutal, nearly bulletproof monsters. Their condition worsens as bone mass increases, a direct consequence of a dangerous mix of space radiation and Doi’s experimental diet. The onboard doctor realizes the grim cause, and the station’s fate becomes a matter of urgent, high-stakes action. The crisis drives Defy Foods to push for a quiet cover-up to protect their reputation, even as the remaining crew faces a deadly countdown.
That night, Monaka and her coworker discuss life and the perils of living a double life, with Monaka revealing a portion of her concealed world. As Monaka’s path narrows, Gaga (Rin Gaga) returns home only to be drawn into a chase after Tsuin, who turns on the TV and escalates the danger. The Angel of Death deploys a sniper to take on the monster, but bullets and explosive shells prove useless against its monstrous, bulletproof hide. In a pivotal moment, the monster recognizes Monaka by her bracelet and her eyes, hesitating long enough for her to shoot a critical weakness through its mouth, causing the monster to collapse onto a passing car in a convoy in which Doi is traveling.
The confrontation exposes a shattering truth: the monster Monaka has just slain is her own father. Doi, faced with the revelation, tries to console or restrain her, but the moment quickly shifts as Monaka turns on him, killing the two agents who try to intervene and then pursuing a final, desperate search for her father. As she exits the garage, the convoy carrying the now-revived monster explodes, and when the wreckage clears, Monaka and the monster share a silent, piercing gaze—the last, haunting moment that binds daughter and father in a world where loyalties blur and violence converges.
