Madhav "Maddy" Kabra, played by Imran Khan, is an architect deeply infatuated with Payal, portrayed by Kangana Ranaut, captivated by her unique outlook on life. The two share a live-in relationship that lasts five years, but a sudden twist leads to Payal leaving Maddy without a clear explanation. Before meeting Maddy, Payal dated Ricky, played by Vivan Bhatena, who once pursued her aggressively and fought Maddy over her affections. Now, two years after the breakup, Ricky re-enters Maddy's life as a client at his architecture firm, seizing every chance to belittle him. The narrative often shifts to flashbacks, revealing the extent of Maddy's love for Payal.
