From their earliest days, Sathya and Vasanth are best friends who share everything. Their bond anchors their small lives and sets the tone for the rest of the story. Their friendship faces its first test when family schemes begin to push them toward Pooja.

Kumaraswamy, who works under Sathya's mother, schemes to marry Sathya to Pooja for money. He engineers opportunities for closeness and even arranges rides to create chances for them to be together. His manipulations plant the seeds for a larger conflict later.

On Vasanth's birthday, Sathya goes to wish him, but Vasanth rejects the gesture, claiming birthdays no longer matter to him. The moment reveals the growing distance between the two friends. It also foreshadows the personal upheavals to come.

During the engagement planned by Sathya's mother, Kumaraswamy pushes Pooja to wear the engagement saree in front of guests. Pooja reveals her mangala sutra, proving she is already married and shattering the plan. Sathya confronts the revelation as the family chaos erupts.

The narrative shifts to a college flashback: Nivetha falls in love with Vasanth on the first day, while Pooja and Vasanth silently fall for each other. The love triangle forms in the shadows of friendship. This history colors the loyalties in the present.

Upon learning of Nivetha's love for Vasanth, Pooja sacrifices her own feelings. On Vasanth's birthday, she denies him, and Vasanth forcibly marries her to secure the bond. The act cements the rift and sets the tragedy in motion.
