Kuldeep “Kukoo” Saini, Varun Dhawan, and Nainaa Sharma, Kiara Advani, have loved each other since school and choose to marry. They relocate to Toronto, where Nainaa climbs the corporate ladder at a large company while Kukoo works as a bouncer at a nightclub. Over the next five years, the spark cools as silences lengthen, conversations stall, and resentments quietly accumulate. Nainaa receives a tempting offer to become vice-president of HR in New York City, while Kukoo grows frustrated with his job and the rhythm of their daily lives.

On their wedding anniversary, the couple opens up about their strained marriage and quietly resolves to divorce, with plans to finalize after Ginny’s wedding back in their hometown. They travel to Patiala to attend Ginny’s ceremony, greeted by Kukoo’s warm parents, Anil Kapoor as Bheem Saini and Neetu Singh as Geeta Saini, along with Ginny, Prajakta Koli who is eager to start her new chapter with Baljeet. Ginny herself wrestles with lingering feelings for her former boyfriend, Gaurav, complicating the celebratory mood.

Back in the house, Nainaa’s boss pushes her to decide about the promotion, while Kukoo urges her to reveal their divorce plan to his parents. In a startling turn, Kukoo learns that his father, Bheem, is contemplating divorce from Geeta after Ginny’s wedding. A confrontation reveals a deeper secret: Bheem has been having an extramarital affair with Meera, the family friend and former mathematics teacher. The revelation shocks Geeta and Nainaa, who already navigate the emotional tremors of the house as Nainaa is pressured by family expectations to bear children.

Amid the turmoil, Geeta tries to hold the family together, while Bheem fakes a heart attack to buy time and avoid the fallout. Geeta and the others confront the truth at a temple, where Geeta proposes a possible reconciliation, even as the rift deepens. At the same time, Ginny’s wedding preparations unfold, and the family tries to keep the drama from overshadowing her big day, though the tension is palpable.

A moment of cruel irony arrives when Kukoo and Gurpreet, Maniesh Paul, call Meera to mock the idea that Bheem kicked her out, only to learn that Meera herself had rejected Bheem. The confrontation explodes into public shaming: Kukoo publicly insults his father, Geeta slaps him, and she finally decides to file for divorce. The atmosphere at Ginny’s wedding intensifies as Ginny confesses insecurity about marrying Baljeet, admitting she still loves someone else and had believed Geeta’s reassurance would make everything right.

Divorce proceedings begin for both couples. The court grants Bheem and Geeta six months to reconsider, while Kukoo refuses to accept the divorce and apologizes to Nainaa for not fully supporting her success and for letting jealousy creep in. The couple ultimately reconcile and plan to leave for New York City, with Bheem showing signs of possible reconciliation with Geeta, and Ginny’s future potentially tied to Gaurav, Varun Sood. The movie closes on a note of uneasy optimism, balancing the complexity of love, loyalty, and the willingness to start anew.

Elnaaz Norouzi, Elnaaz Norouzi, makes a special appearance, adding a brief note of intrigue to the intertwined stories of the Saini family.
