Rahul Rahul, eager to move up the ranks in his call center job, lets his apartment be used by people connected to his boss, Ranjit Kapoor, in exchange for introductions to their girlfriends and for chances to win favors. He harbors a quiet affection for his colleague Neha, who has risen quickly in the ranks largely thanks to her ties to Ranjit. The arrangement threads through a web of relationships as the city hums around them, blending ambition, desire, and the everyday compromises of modern life.

Meanwhile, Ranjit Kapoor is deeply unhappy in his marriage to Shikha Kapoor, with whom he shares an eight-year-old daughter. Shikha, who often visits Bharatanatyam classes with her aunt Shivani, reads aloud a letter from Amol, the man Shivani loved forty years ago, who left her to chase his dreams in the United States. The letter hints that Amol may come back to India for one last time, hoping to spend his final days with Shivani, a possibility that unsettles the delicate balance of everyone involved. Amol’s echoing presence casts a bittersweet undertone over the sprawling web of loyalties and regrets that crisscross the apartment and the city.

Shikha’s sister Shruti is twenty-seven and determined to marry. She meets many prospective grooms, including Monty, whom she finds odd and older than ideal. Shruti, Neha’s roommate, knows that Shruti is Ranjit’s sister-in-law, which adds another layer of tension and possibility to her quest for a life partner. One day, Shikha crosses paths with Akash, an unsuccessful theatre artist and a divorcee living upstairs with friends who rehearse drama. They start as friends and drift toward closeness, visiting places together in a bond that is light on romance but heavy with potential.

Shruti’s journey into the workforce continues as Monty helps her land a job in his company, and Monty mentions that his mother has found an ideal bride for him, asking Shruti to help with wedding shopping. Amid these intertwining schemes, Amol and Shivani, who have rekindled their old flame, spend a night together. In the morning, Shivani wakes in pain, and Amol calls for an ambulance. She dies in his arms, turning a story of renewed love into a haunting moment that reverberates through the circle.

During a tense moment between Neha and Ranjit, a fierce argument drives Ranjit to leave. Neha, overwhelmed, attempts suicide by drinking phenyl, but Rahul intervenes with the help of a neighbor doctor and saves her. He then calls Ranjit, who has travelled to Bangalore for urgent business, and asks him to let Rahul take care of Neha for a few days. A fragile bond forms between Rahul and Neha as he reveals that his father dreamed of building a house or a restaurant and had invested everything in that unfinished project. Rahul becomes determined to see that dream fulfilled, taking Neha along in a new chapter of his life.

Shruti, who had tracked Neha to Rahul’s home, misreads the situation and slaps Rahul in a moment of jealousy and miscommunication. She soon learns that Ranjit was having an affair with Neha, which compounds the emotional fallout but also drives the characters toward new choices. At the same time, Shikha visits Akash at his home, and their proximity grows; just before things go further, Shikha constrains her own boundaries and leaves, deciding how she wants to live and what she wants from life. Akash, meanwhile, sends her a signal that he is ready to pursue a future abroad, having been offered a job in Dubai, and asks her to join him.

Ranjit, after the confession, becomes entangled in his own revelations. Shikha admits that Shruti never told her anything, and she reveals her own closeness with Akash. Enraged, Ranjit decides to move in with Neha, while Monty announces his wedding date to Shruti, who has fallen for him. Rahul resigns from his job and, disillusioned with the city’s hard-edged pace, decides to leave Mumbai by train. On the day Monty’s wedding is set, Rahul prepares to depart, and Ranjit makes plans with Neha to take her to a hotel by the city’s outskirts. Akash sends Shikha her handbag and a note that he is ready to leave for Dubai and asks her to come along.

As the characters drag their separate lives toward a shared crossroads, Neha realizes she loves Rahul and starts chasing his taxi to the railway station. Shruti confesses her feelings to Monty just before the wedding and races toward the same station, while Monty also runs after Shruti on the wedding horse. Shikha, meanwhile, finds Akash but chooses not to join him, wishing him the best as he heads to Dubai. At the railway station, Neha catches up to Rahul and the two reconcile, while Monty reaches Shruti in a moving chaos of emotions, finally embracing the truth of their love. Shikha encounters Akash one last time but chooses to stay, not joining him on his departure, and the film closes on a note of renewed, if uneasy, partnership between Shikha and Ranjit.

In the end, the lives of Rahul, Neha, Shruti, Monty, Shikha, Ranjit, Akash, Amol, and Shivani thread together across a city that never stops asking for more. The cast’s performances frame a dense, emotionally charged panorama of ambition, desire, loyalty, and the compromises people make to hold on to love in a sprawling urban landscape. The movie’s quiet realism lingers as the couples find their own form of balance—some together, some apart—within the imperfect miracles of everyday life.
