Kabir John Abraham is an unhappy, rather poor alcoholic lawyer who lebels a restless, playboy lifestyle in Pondicherry. His days drift between late nights, casual encounters, and a stubborn sense of dissatisfaction that his friends try to soften but cannot fix. His best friends, Siddharth Vinay Pathak, a perceptive policeman, and Vishal Ranvir Shorey, his loyal colleague, do what they can to keep him out of trouble, even as his impulsive choices pull him toward more dangerous schemes.

Then he meets Sonia Khanna Bipasha Basu, the striking wife of Rohit Khanna Gulshan Grover, a traveling millionaire who seems to orbit a world far removed from Kabir’s modest concerns. Their connection moves quickly from flirtation to a charged affair, and Kabir finds himself drawn into Sonia’s orbit with a stubborn, aching passion he hasn’t felt in years. Sonia, however, is not simply chasing a romance; she is crafting a plan that blends desire with danger. She warns him that Rohit is capable of drastic, even deadly acts, and she admits she wants Rohit out of the picture—not just emotionally, but physically.

Despite growing misgivings, Kabir becomes entangled in Sonia’s lethal proposal: murder Rohit and stage it as an accident. Sonia presents a grimly cinematic alibi, and Kabir, warned by the gleam of money and a desperate longing for Sonia, consents. The plan requires meticulous steps: book a hotel room for an airtight alibi, slip away at night, kidnap Rohit while he sleeps, and transport him to a dilapidated warehouse rigged with explosives. Kabir even acquires a bomb from an explosives expert he had defended earlier in his career, a detail that haunts him as the night unfolds.

Under the cover of darkness, Kabir penetrates the couple’s villa; Sonia deliberately keeps Rohit awake with a seductive ruse, while Kabir fights to subdue Rohit and lead him to the warehouse where fate—armed with a timer and a blast—awaits. The warehouse erupts in flame, Rohit is killed, and Sonia swiftly manipulates Rohit’s will to seize everything for herself, naming Kabir as executor. Kabir, unsettled by the sudden shift, confronts Sonia, who remains evasive and cold, but the worst is yet to come: Rohit’s sister, Priyanka Kapoor Anahita Oberoi, already suspicious of the circumstances surrounding Rohit’s death and the will, warns Kabir that Sonia’s greed has already scorched lives, including Rohit’s former wife who died under Sonia’s care.

Kabir, now entangled in a web of lies, tries to press Sonia to share the wealth with Priyanka, hoping to buy some moral ground back. Sonia refuses, accusing Kabir of colluding with Priyanka, while the surrounding police circle tightens. Siddharth, who leads the case, is not entirely convinced by the “accident” theory; he notes Rohit’s missing glasses—an emblem of his habitual habit—and the fact that such a detail doesn’t fit a simple mishap. The investigation strains friendships and duty, placing Kabir at a perilous crossroads between loyalty and truth, between a life he wanted with Sonia and the looming specter of confession.

In a final bid to flee, Kabir waits for Sonia to join him outside the city. Her car rolls in; she attempts to run him down, a deadly bid that Kabir narrowly escapes as the vehicle flips and its driver—a handyman tied to Sonia and Rohit—dies in the wreck. Kabir confronts Sonia with the question of love, but she answers with chilling self-absorption, claiming she has only ever loved herself. When Kabir threatens to surrender, Sonia shoots first, and then, in a grim reversal, Kabir wounds her in the stomach while laying her down on a sofa.

Kabir escapes the scene, calls Siddharth and Vishal, and asks them to meet him at the beach. The trio watches the sunrise, a brief moment of solace that becomes Kabir’s final vision: Sonia walking toward him. He smiles softly, a farewell he cannot outlive, and dies from his injuries as the horizon glows. In the end, the line between love and murder blurs into a somber truth: desire can be a dangerous compass, and the price of trust can be too high to pay.
