In the misty hills of Darjeeling, a modest tour guide named Sanjay ekes out a living, navigating the lives of curious travelers and the quiet rhythms of the town. Their days together feel light and bright, a promise of a future built on shared dreams and small joys. Priya’s father is eventually bailed out, and she learns from him that he was framed, a revelation that deepens the couple’s resolve to stay true to one another. Sanjay, buoyed by their love and the prospect of a brighter tomorrow, returns to his ordinary life with a renewed sense of purpose. Yet fate has a crueler plan in store: he dies in a car accident, a sudden, jarring end that seems to sever the thread of his life. As he passes, the Hindu deity Yamaraj appears, ushering Sanjay toward judgment and a troubling destiny.

What follows is a twist that unsettles the very ground of the tale: Yamaraj discovers that Sanjay was never meant to die in the first place. In a moment of celestial misdirection, he realizes he killed Sanjay instead of his look-alike, Tarun Kumar. The gods decide to rectify the error by returning Sanjay to Earth, but in Tarun’s body. On Earth, Tarun’s body has already been cremated, and the decision hinges on meeting Tarun’s home and filling his life anew. Tarun, however, has just been shot in the back by his own brother—seconds before—adding a layer of tension to this miraculous replacement. Yamaraj retrieves the bullet and directs Sanjay to inhabit Tarun’s form.

Back in the world of the living, Priya fights to free her father fully and learns the deeper truth—that Tarun was the architect of the frame, a revelation that reframes the struggle between right and wrong. Sanjay, now in Tarun’s body, begins to see Tarun’s ruthless past more clearly: the man’s criminal footprints, his estrangement from his grandmother—the only living relative who still believes in him—and the networks of deception that fed his greed. Determined to set things right, Sanjay decides to dismantle Tarun’s illicit enterprises.
