Rohit was murdered because he witnessed the commissioner being murdered by Malik, Shinde, and Kadam on the night of his debut concert. He saw the killers committing the crime and was chased by them. To silence him, they sabotaged his motorcycle, causing him to crash into the river where his body was never found. This eliminated the only witness to the cartel's crime.

Earlier, the film reveals that Shakti and Saxena secretly run a drug cartel with corrupt policemen, establishing why the murder had to be covered up.

Saxena was the secret leader of the drug cartel operating behind his legitimate business. When Rohit witnessed the murder committed by his associates, Saxena ordered the hit on Rohit through a shadowy figure called 'Sirjee'. He orchestrated Rohit's death to protect the cartel's operation and maintain his hidden criminal empire.

The timeline reveals early on that Saxena secretly runs the cartel with Shakti and corrupt cops, foreshadowing his ultimate role as the mastermind.

The film does not explain why Raj Chopra is a physical double of Rohit. Raj is introduced as Nita's best friend in New Zealand who resembles the deceased Rohit. This uncanny resemblance becomes central to the plot, allowing Raj to continue Rohit's legacy and eventually help Sonia find closure.

Sonia's father Mr. Saxena, despite being a wealthy industrialist, disapproved of Rohit because he was a struggling singer working at a car showroom. Saxena viewed Rohit as unworthy of his daughter due to the class difference. He had Rohit fired from his job and refused to accept the relationship, forcing Rohit to prove himself economically before marriage would be considered.

While stranded on a deserted island, Sonia slipped into the sea and begged Rohit to save her. Despite not knowing how to swim, Rohit jumped in to rescue her and nearly drowned in the process. Sonia managed to pull him back to shore, and this life-threatening rescue cemented their deep emotional bond and proved the depth of their love for each other.

Earlier on the island, Rohit and Sonia's arguments and misunderstandings about the signal pole foreshadowed their ultimate trust in each other.

Raj, Sonia, and Rohit's friend Tony began investigating Rohit's death together. Amit, Rohit's brother, revealed that Malik had ordered the hit on Rohit under instruction from a shadowy figure called 'Sirjee'. Raj resurrected the show Rohit was supposed to perform to draw out the criminals, and evidence from Malik's phone ultimately implicated Saxena as the cartel's true leader.

The earlier reveal of the cartel secret established the criminal network that would later be exposed through this investigation.

After Rohit's mysterious death, Sonia was devastated by grief. Her family sent her to New Zealand to live with her uncle, presumably to help her heal and distance her from the painful memories in India. It was in New Zealand that she encountered Raj, who bore a striking resemblance to her lost love.

Raj was shot by Shinde, one of the corrupt policemen involved in the original murder, who mistook Raj for Rohit. Since Rohit was supposed to be dead, Shinde believed the surviving Rohit was a threat to the cartel's secrets. The shooting occurred when Raj traveled to India after seeing Sonia in New Zealand, triggering the investigation into the conspiracy.

The earlier reveal of Shinde's involvement in the original murder establishes his motive to eliminate anyone who looks like Rohit.

When confronted with evidence from Malik's phone that implicated him as the cartel's leader, Saxena confessed to his crimes and was arrested. The evidence proved he had ordered Rohit's murder to protect his criminal operation. His confession unraveled the entire conspiracy that had cost Rohit his life.

The investigation led by Raj and the evidence collected from Malik directly led to this confrontation.

After Raj helped expose the truth and bring Rohit's killers to justice, he returned to New Zealand with Rohit's brother Amit. Sonia, having found closure through the resolution of Rohit's case, confessed her love for Raj. They became engaged, symbolizing her transition from grief to new love and the film's hopeful ending.
