Jab We Met

Aditya Kashyap is the heir to a wealthy but troubled family. After his girlfriend marries someone else, he drifts through a company meeting, attends the wedding in a daze, and then boards a random departing train from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai. On the train, he meets Geet Dhillon, a lively, endlessly chatty young woman whose energy contrasts sharply with his own despair. Overwhelmed by her vivacity, he impulsively steps off the train at a small wayside stop, Barnagar railway station, determined not to look back. Yet Geet, true to her buoyant and selfless nature, follows him onto the platform, scolding him for his “recklessness” as the train roars away, leaving them stranded.

The two winds up blaming each other for the mishap, and Geet insists he help her back on track to reach her home in Bhatinda. Irritated and eager to shake her off, he hires a taxi, even taking the wheel himself to race along the interstate roads toward Ratlam Junction. Against all odds they arrive before the next train, but chaos throws Geet off yet again, and she misses boarding. Now stranded at Ratlam well past midnight, she attracts the unwanted attention of local men, and she clings to Aditya for safety. Reluctantly, he agrees to stay with her for protection, and they find lodging for the night. On that quiet, tense evening, Geet eases him into opening up. He reveals a painful family truth—his mother left his father for another man, leaving both father and son embittered. Geet, in turn, confesses that she plans to elope with her boyfriend Anshuman.

As they travel together, Aditya’s icy reserve begins to thaw. He slowly begins to care for her, and the journey becomes a turning point for him: he feels a responsibility to help her reach Bhatinda. After days on the road, they finally arrive in Geet’s hometown. Geet introduces Aditya as the man who protected her along the way, but to avoid exposing his wealth, he presents himself as a musician. The family is wary, especially Geet’s grandfather, who senses something more between them. The bond between the two deepens despite distractions and doubts from Geet’s relatives, and the pair grow more aware of the impact each has on the other.

Geet’s family soon reveals they intend to arrange her marriage to a childhood friend, a plan she resists. She urges Aditya to accompany her to Manali, hoping for a future away from arranged matches and expectations. The road trip ends with Aditya bidding Geet farewell in Manali and returning to Mumbai, but not without a lasting change: the journey helps him reconcile with his estranged mother and rekindle his confidence in business. He even names a product line after Geet, a quiet testament to how she reintroduced color and meaning into his world. In the wake of the trip, he realizes he has fallen in love.

Months pass, and Geet’s family visits Mumbai, distressed by her disappearance. Determined to find out the truth, Aditya travels to Manali and then Shimla, where he learns that Geet has been living a quiet life as a schoolteacher. He urges her to reclaim her spark, even as complications arise when Anshuman reappears, hoping to reconcile. The trio then travels back toward Bhatinda, where Geet’s family mistakes Aditya for her partner and prepares for their marriage. Geet wrestles with the revelation of her own heart and the pressures of family expectations, but she ultimately chooses honesty. In a moment that binds their fates, she declares her true feelings with a kiss in front of everyone, including Anshuman, who exits her life. With the blessing of their families, Geet and Aditya marry, their union framed by a shared history of struggle, resilience, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Throughout the odyssey, other figures tether the narrative to Geet’s world: Geet Dhillon’s family—such as her mother, Kiran Juneja, and her grandfather, Dara Singh—offer glimpses into love, responsibility, and tradition. A few supporting appearances mirror the social texture of their journey, including moments involving a local vendor, Asif Basra, and a family member known as Pavan Malhotra who helps bridge the worlds Aditya and Geet navigate. Even brief glimpses of Geet’s cousin, Wamiqa Gabbi, add color to the tapestry of relatives and friends circling the central romance.

What begins as a chance encounter aboard a train evolves into a test of character, fidelity, and the courage to choose love over fear. The film traces how two very different people, carried along by a combination of fate and choice, find a path back to themselves through each other. It finally culminates in a wedding that unites two families and seals a bond that began in transit, on a night when a reluctant passenger found a reason to stay.
