Raja cannot tolerate watching Rita dance with other men at the party her father hosted. Despite his makeover and attempt to fit into her social world, his deep love for Rita makes him possessive and jealous. Rita overhears her father revealing that he intentionally engineered the rift between Raja and Rita to test their compatibility. On the surface, Raj Bahadur opposes the marriage because Raja comes from a different background, a simple village man with no wealth or social standing compared to their wealthy family. However, his deeper reason is revealed later: he wants to test whether Raja's love is strong enough to withstand the challenges of their different worlds.

Raja agrees to the makeover because he loves Rita deeply and wants to be accepted by her family. He is willing to sacrifice his authentic self and adapt to her culture to be with her. This decision highlights his commitment, but also plants the seeds of future conflict when he realizes forcing himself into an unfamiliar world causes him pain.

Rita chooses Raja because she has genuinely fallen in love with him during her first trip to Kashmir. Despite her father's pressure to marry the suitable Kishore, Rita cannot ignore her feelings for Raja. She values their genuine connection over social expectations and is willing to defy her family to be with the man she loves.

After Raja leaves the party, Rita feels guilty and overhears her father confessing to someone that he had purposely planned to separate them. He explains he knew Raja would not tolerate watching Rita dance with other men, and that he used this to test whether Raja was truly compatible with their family. This revelation shows the father manipulated the situation rather than simply opposing the match.

Rita travels to Kashmir for a holiday and rents a houseboat owned by Raja, a gentle and romantic village man. Over several days, they spend time together, and Raja shares his simple life with his younger sister Munni. Their bond deepens through conversations and shared moments, and Raja falls in love with Rita before she leaves.

After realizing her father's manipulation, Rita goes to the railway station to join Raja in Kashmir, asking him to take her with him. Moved by her commitment, Raja pulls her into a moving train, and they embrace tenderly as the train departs. The ending shows them choosing each other over family expectations, beginning a new life together with hope.

When Raja leaves the party, Rita initially believes he is the one who cannot adapt to her world and has given up on their relationship. She feels guilty and believes his jealousy proved he was unwilling to compromise. Only after overhearing her father does she realize Raja's departure was actually a test engineered by her father, and she had misjudged the situation.
