Chandni is a talented, religious, lower-class night club singer at Daniel's club. She supports her aunts and grandmother through her performances and hopes to give her nieces an education. She secretly believes a prince charming will one day marry her.

Rahul, a wealthy, womanizing young man, returns to India to handle his grandfather's business. At a temple, a hermit girl directs him toward Chandni, setting the stage for their eventual meeting. In the background, Rahul's family situation involves his disguised grandfather Tubby.

One night while Chandni is performing, Rahul is drawn to her talent and dignity. He hopes for a casual affair, not a serious romance, and even sends a note inviting her to elope. He later attempts to mend things with gifts, but Chandni resists being pursued.

Rahul's plan to change his life leads him to buy Daniel's club, which sparks Daniel's wrath. Daniel abducts Chandni to get back at Rahul for destroying him, and she is swept into a dangerous confrontation that ends with Daniel in police custody.

Chandni argues with Rahul over the incident, but her grandmother urges gratitude toward Rahul for his protection and generosity. She runs into Rahul's ex-girlfriend, who confirms his pattern with women. Later, she reconnects with her old friend Divya at a wedding invitation and confronts Divya's mother's judgment about class.

Chandni agrees to perform for C. C. Patel, chasing a chance to advance her career. Due to document issues, Patel arranges for Chandni to fly to London to perform, setting the stage for international complications. She leaves India bound for London with mixed hopes.

Chandni arrives in London and is stranded after a molestation attempt by an elderly Indian man outside the embassy. Rahul's car breaks down, and he rescues her, bringing her to a shelter where he invites her to stay at his hotel. Their bond resumes in this precarious moment.

At a hotel, Chandni encounters Rahul's grandfather, Dadaji, who wants them to be seen as a married couple. Rahul convinces Chandni to pretend to be his wife to save face, and she accepts, gaining Dadaji's respect. She also encounters Divya again and learns that Ashwin's factories rely on Rahul's garments.

Chandni's status becomes central as she wears the mangalsutra and feels a newfound sense of belonging. Divya's husband Ashwin appears, showing how Rahul's wealth ties into Divya's world, reinforcing Chandni's growing confidence in her place beside him.

Harry and Monica band together to mislead Rahul and drive a wedge between him and Chandni. Rahul squanders his money under their influence, and a major confrontation erupts when Chandni challenges his choices, ending with a public slap that wounds their relationship. The lovers part ways for a time as Chandni pours her pain into a performance.

After the turmoil, Rahul confronts his feelings and, with Dadaji's counsel, realizes he is in love with Chandni. He resolves to fight for her and repair the damage between them.

Rahul follows Chandni back to India, apologizes publicly and proclaims his love in front of her house, with a crowd including Daniel witnessing the moment. The public gesture marks a turning point in their relationship.

Chandni plans to settle with Daniel in Goa to support her family, but she cannot break her promise to him. Daniel, moved by true love, steps aside and allows Chandni to be with Rahul. The film ends with Chandni and Rahul embracing.
