I'm in Love with a Church Girl

I’m in Love with a Church Girl (Molina, 2013) tells the inspiring true story of its writer, Galley Molina, and is directed by Steve Race. The narrative revolves around Miles Montego, portrayed by Jeff Atkins, who finds himself in a complicated relationship with the earnest and devout Vanessa Leon, played by Adrienne Bailon. Intrigued by the vibrant church community, Miles attends Vanessa’s service, where he is struck by the relatable and modern approach of Pastor Galley Molina — an untraditional pastor dressed in jeans and a fitted cap. After the service, Pastor Galley reassures Miles with the words, “It does not matter about the past because God can use you to share the gospel as well.” This encouragement leads Miles to embrace church life, gradually distancing himself from his old friends.

The story takes a poignant turn as Miles faces personal crises, including his mother’s serious health challenges and Vanessa’s distressing car accident. Anguished, Miles confronts God in the church, grappling with his faith and the hardships surrounding him. Ultimately, he triumphs over these obstacles, transforming into a pastor himself. The film concludes with Jason observing Miles’s profound transformation, recognizing that he has truly changed through his faith and commitment to a new life.
