Father John Buerlein, portrayed by Jeremy Sisto, serves as the dedicated yet fatigued priest of a small Catholic parish in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A pivotal moment occurs when a mysterious, nameless prostitute, played by Kristin Chenoweth, makes an astonishing confession during confession: she reveals her intention to commit suicide on her impending birthday. Shocked and unable to intervene, Father John is left with little more than her wearing a crucifix and being an Aries.

Driven by a newfound obsession to help this woman, Father John embarks on a quest through the city's red-light district in hopes of locating her.
