As for the symbolic elements, Athena’s nickname for Crystal, “Snowball,” references George Orwell’s Animal Farm, where Snowball is a character who believes strongly in a cause but becomes extreme in his beliefs. Crystal counters that Athena is more like Snowball—fervent and possibly mad in her ideological stance, echoing the film’s commentary on fanaticism and blind belief systems.
