In 1653 Salem, Massachusetts, Reverend Traske banishes Winifred Sanderson after she refuses to marry John Pritchett. Her defiance not only leads to her expulsion but also marks the beginning of her rebellious journey with her sisters.

After being banished, Winifred and her sisters, Mary and Sarah, escape to a secluded forest. Here, they encounter Mother Witch, who grants Winifred a mystical book that teaches them the dark arts and offers a warning about the dangers of the powerful Magicae Maxima spell.

In a fit of vengeance, the Sanderson sisters unleash their wrath on Reverend Traske. They cast a curse on his home, ensuring that it will burn, showcasing their newfound powers and deepening their commitment to dark magic.

Fast forward to 2022, Becca prepares for her sweet sixteen amidst Halloween festivities. She and her friend Izzy decline an invitation from their estranged friend Cassie Traske and explore the magical Sanderson cottage.

In the Sanderson cottage, Becca receives a Black Flame Candle from Gilbert, leading to an unexpected resurrection of the sisters. Unaware of the candle's significance, the girls inadvertently unleash the witches back into the modern world.

As the Sanderson sisters navigate modern-day Salem, they pursue Becca and Izzy through a local Walgreens. The girls manage to outsmart them briefly, but are soon confronted with the truth about Gilbert's manipulation.

Spotting a flyer for Mayor Jefry Traske, Winifred hatches a revenge plan requiring the mayor's blood. The sisters capture Becca and Izzy in a basement while forcing Gilbert to gather ingredients for the dark Magicae Maxima spell.

As the Sanderson sisters wreak havoc at the town's Halloween carnival, they enchant citizens to assist them. Meanwhile, Gilbert resurrects Billy Butcherson to aid in their plan, adding chaos to the festival.

Becca and Izzy manage to escape from the sisters to warn Mayor Traske. They reunite with Cassie and attempt to contain the sisters within a salt circle, but the witches break free, leading to Cassie's kidnapping.

The girls pursue the sisters into the forbidden forest, where Gilbert gathers components for the spell. Becca discovers her own innate magical abilities, revealing unexpected connections to the witches' powers.

The sisters begin casting the Magicae Maxima spell, which amplifies their powers significantly. However, Becca distracts them long enough for Izzy to rescue Cassie, thwarting their immediate plans.
