A man posing as a priest offers Lucindia holy water on a Death Valley highway, then murders her with a stabbing when she drinks. He buries the body and builds a crude crucifix over the grave. As the priest prays, Lucindia returns from the grave and bludgeons him with a shovel, screaming 'El Diablo!'

Lucindia robs and murders a motorist

In a separate desert encounter, Lucindia robs, castrates, and murders a motorist. She leaves the scene with her brutal toll and continues her roaming march through the valley. The act sets the stage for the chaos that follows the next day.

College students pick up Lucindia

Eric, Chris, Monique, and Sarah, four college students on a road trip to Redondo Beach, spot Lucindia at a cluster of crosses and invite her into their car. Eric discovers Chris's brother's cellphone and a camcorder battery on Lucindia's corpse. The group uses the gear to watch the last minutes of a recorded camera. The footage reveals their friends were killed during a botched séance.
