Marcus, Craig, Liz, and Nina are cruising through the harsh Australian outback when a looming road train looms behind their SUV and hammers them off the road, leaving Craig with a broken arm. The heavy vehicle pulls ahead and comes to a stop a short distance away. The four approach, but the driver is nowhere to be found. From the brush comes a distant volley of gunshots, and a wild, crazed figure bursts toward them, shouting in panic. In a flash of fear, the group seizes the truck and heads off, the road train’s engine already fading into the distance as they escape. The truck’s radio flickers to life on its own, adding an eerie soundtrack to their escape. After a grueling drive, the four eventually drift into sleep, and when they wake, the truck has somehow maneuvered off the road and climbs a small hill.

Nina tends to Craig while Liz steps away to scout a dilapidated shack she spotted earlier, and Marcus stays with the group on the road. When Nina realizes the truck won’t start, Marcus accompanies Liz to search for a way to move on. The road lingers in their heads, but something else draws them forward: the fuel tanks in the truck are inexplicably empty. Nina discovers an ominous, oversized pipe beneath the trailer filled with a thick red fluid that glows in the dim light. Meanwhile, Craig, tormented by startling visions of Cerberus, the hound of myth, uncovers a key to the trailers and unlocks the rearmost compartment. He steps inside, but the door seals shut behind him with a decisive thud, leaving him trapped.

A wedge of tension drives the group apart. Marcus and Liz quarrel over Liz’s closeness to Craig, a dispute that sours the already strained mood and ends with Liz walking away in frustration. On the road, Marcus encounters the truck’s driver, who shoots himself in a quiet, unnerving finale to that moment. Liz pushes forward and locates a rundown shack, its cans unlabeled but clearly containing the same red fluid. Thirsty and uneasy, she drinks a sip before recoiling at a trail of blood and the sight of gory remnants nearby. The revelation sends a chill through the group, and the plan to restart the truck grows even more desperate.

Back at the truck, Liz and Nina struggle to start the engine. Marcus, now dressed in the driver’s clothes and armed with the gun, attempts to destroy the vehicle, but the women overpower him and bind him. Craig suddenly reappears from the trailer, and in a brutal moment, he kills Marcus. The truck shudders back to life, and Nina tries to back up, while Liz remains at the rear to guide her. But the lure of the red fluid proves too strong for Liz, and she drinks again, her resolve wavering as the danger closes in.

Inside the shadowed trailer, a tense confrontation unfolds. Nina breaks free long enough to catch a glimpse of what’s inside: a stark, nightmarish abattoir where human bodies—Marcus’s among them—are ground into the red fluid that powers the truck. The sight steels her, and she returns to the cab with a renewed determination to escape what she’s learned, keeping the truck rolling forward.

As they drive, a distant car appears in the headlights, and Nina signals for help. The truck’s radio glitches back to life, distracting her long enough for Craig and Liz to force their way into the cab. A frenzied fight erupts: Craig slams the truck into the other vehicle, sending Liz tumbling from the cab. Nina, stunned, is knocked out while Craig drags Liz toward the rear trailer, muttering about a “magnificent opportunity” that awaits them. When Nina regains consciousness, she lashes out, pushes Craig in, and locks the door. She resumes control of the truck and heads back into the night, her breath ragged as she processes the carnage behind her.

Her focus returns to the road, but the front trailer’s contents—the abattoir—haunt her as she fights to keep moving. Eventually, she stops to survey the wreckage she has left behind, the two survivors from the earlier crash now peering at the truck with a mix of fear and awe. Nina calls out in warning, but the distant gunshots and the sight of a screaming figure racing toward them compel the couple to seize the moment: they hijack the truck and speed away, leaving Nina to confront the haunting repeat of the terrible cycle she has just witnessed.

In the end, the road through the outback keeps returning to the same cruel loop: a lone vehicle, a truck fueled by a red fluid, and a trail of bodies and fear. Nina watches in horror as the cycle begins anew, a stark reminder of how quickly a road trip can devolve into a relentless chase through a landscape that seems to offer no mercy and little escape. The outback remains indifferent to the survivors’ pleas, echoing with distant gunshots and a cry that grows fainter as the wheels turn, carrying the next unwitting travelers toward the same dark fate.
