Vanessa Shepard, the only survivor from the Abaddon Hotel, returns to the cursed town after a series of sleepless nightmares and a therapy session that hints at a collective trauma binding the locals. As the pieces fall together, we learn that the town’s unsolved disappearances all trace back to a single 1989 tragedy at the Rockland County Fair: a drunk driver—Troy Hopewell—crashed into the Carmichael family, killing Margaret and setting off a chain of vengeance‑driven disappearances that have haunted the community for decades. Every victim, including Bobby Hopewell, is found with the same eerie red ball placed beside the body, a token that signals the curse’s arrival.

Alicia, the amateur historian who’s been digging into the Carmichael lineage, discovers that the “curse” is actually a deliberate ritual carried out by the three clowns who served the satanic cult once led by Andrew Tully. She tries to halt it with an exorcism at the Carmichael manor, but the priest, Father David Flannery, is brutally killed by the demonic clowns, and Alicia herself is trapped by a black‑and‑white clown and presumably meets the same fate. Meanwhile, Bobby’s desperate video of a clown in his basement ends in his murder, confirming that the nightmares are not mere hallucinations.

The final revelations come when Vanessa uncovers a hidden cache of letters inside a German clock from the hotel. The letters mention a pregnant woman named Beverly, who vanished with her child in 1989—Vanessa herself. The implication is that Vanessa is the twin child of Beverly, a direct descendant of the very cult that birthed the curse. She also learns that Mitchell, the enigmatic figure from earlier films, is linked to the cult’s blood‑line and may have been turned into a spirit that now protects the hidden burial site.

In the closing scene Vanessa is thrust back in time, watching a conversation between Patrick Carmichael and the clown‑caretaker Freddie Perkins. They discuss securing “his” blood in the soil so the cult can become immortal, hinting that Tully’s corpse is buried somewhere with a set of cryptic numbers on a photograph pointing to the exact location. The film ends abruptly with Vanessa realizing that she is the only one who can locate and destroy Tully’s body—burning it would sever the covenant and end the cycle of killings. The screen cuts before she can act, leaving her mission—and the fate of the surviving characters—dangling in suspense, ready to be resolved in whatever sequel may follow.
