The film opens with Marybeth narrowly escaping the clutches of Victor Crowley, who is relentless in his pursuit. As she flees through the swamp, the tension builds, showcasing her desperation and determination to survive.

After her harrowing escape, Marybeth is rescued by Jack Cracker, who pulls her from the river and takes her to the safety of his cabin. He quickly realizes the gravity of her situation when he learns her last name and urges her to seek help from Reverend Zombie.

Curiosity leads Jack to uncover a camcorder left behind by a victim named Shapiro, containing disturbing footage of topless women. Unfortunately, his exploration triggers Victor Crowley's wrath, resulting in a brutal and bloody death as he is gruesomely disemboweled and decapitated.

Determined to confront the horrors she faces, Marybeth makes her way to New Orleans to seek out Reverend Zombie. Upon meeting him, she learns of his shady connections and the dark history surrounding her family’s involvement with Victor Crowley.

During their conversation, Zombie reveals the tragic backstory of Victor Crowley, explaining how a curse from his mother led to his deformity and resulted in a horrific fire. This revelation deepens Marybeth's resolve to retrieve her family's remains and confront her past.

Reverend Zombie agrees to help Marybeth in her quest, but his condition is that she must bring along a family member. Following her departure, Zombie reaches out to Justin, forming a group that includes the potential sacrifices to venture into the swamp.

Upon returning home, Marybeth's uncle Bob expresses his concerns regarding Reverend Zombie's intentions. Despite his initial reluctance, he agrees to accompany her to Zombie's shop for a recruitment meeting, ensuring her safety in this treacherous journey.
