The film opens with a disturbing scene of a gang initiation where a young boy is coerced into taking drugs and handling a pistol. This initiation sets the tone for the violent environment of South London where the story unfolds.

The boy, now part of the gang, goes joyriding with two companions on a stolen motorbike. In a shocking turn of events, they harass and shoot a mother who is out with her child before fleeing the scene, leading to one of the gang members meeting a tragic end.

Harry Brown, an elderly former Royal Marine, struggles to ignore the escalating violence in his neighborhood. He spends his days in his small flat at Heygate Estate and frequently visits his comatose wife in the hospital, showcasing his quiet desperation amidst chaos.

One fateful night, Harry receives a call about his wife's declining health. Fearing for his life, he opts to avoid the dangerous underpass that is a known hideout for gang members while rushing to see her before she passes away.

After attending his wife's funeral, Harry learns from his friend Leonard that he has been bullied by local youths. Soon after, Leonard is brutally murdered, leaving Harry heartbroken and furious at the police's inability to protect his friend.

Harry is accosted by a gang member while walking home and, using his military training, he turns the knife against his attacker, killing him. This incident marks the beginning of Harry's transformation into a vigilante.

Feeling empowered by his encounter, Harry decides to take justice into his own hands. He begins to hunt down the gang members and gathers enough courage to confront the local drug dealers who are responsible for the crime in his neighborhood.

Harry infiltrates a drug den and confronts the dealers. In a desperate act, he kills them and rescues a girl who is suffering from a drug overdose, finding money that he later donates to help others, marking a pivotal moment in his vigilante quest.

As Harry continues his pursuit, he captures a young gang member named Marky to extract information about Leonard’s murder. Through torture, he obtains cellphone footage that pinpoints the gang's involvement, further entrenching him in this violent path.

Realizing the rising violence correlates with a gang war, Police Superintendent Childs organizes a major arrest operation. However, chaos ensues in the neighborhood, leading to a massive riot as tension heightens among the citizens and the police.

After suffering an emphysema attack during a fight, Harry awakens in the hospital. Determined to continue his mission, he escapes and goes to seek out further justice, while detectives Alice Frampton and Hicock rush to stop him.

In a tense confrontation at Sid's pub, Harry reveals evidence connecting Sid to the gang, only to find himself caught in a trap. He faces off against Sid and Noel, leading to violent and desperate actions as the stakes rise higher.

During a brutal clash in the pub basement, Harry manages to draw his weapon and retaliates, resulting in the deaths of both Sid and Noel. However, in the chaos, he is severely injured, prompting a desperate plea for help before the police arrive.

In the wake of the violence, a news conference reveals the aftermath of the riot, where Childs promotes the efforts of the police while denying any vigilante involvement. The community is left to grapple with the turbulent events.

The film concludes with a seemingly recovered Harry walking towards the now peaceful underpass. The area, once rife with crime, now reflects a temporary calm, leaving viewers to ponder the true cost of his actions and their lasting impact on the community.
