In Hong Kong, triad leader Eight Taels is terminally ill and asks his son Wong Kau-tai to return and take over the gang before he dies. 7.5 Taels and his bodyguard Chung wait for Wong’s appearance, signaling a fragile transfer of power that unsettles the organization.

Yip Sin-man is a grown man with a five-year-old mentality who is taken from China to India by two MFA officials to study. He proves a fast learner despite his condition, setting the stage for his unlikely future role in the underworld.

At the Indian airport, Wong Kau-tai is briefly arrested for breaking a telephone and drops his passport. An Indian child pockets it and hands it to Yip, who then travels to Hong Kong with the two ministers, tacitly mistaken as Wong.

Chung picks up Yip at the airport and greets him as 'Big Brother', while Yip remains oblivious to the surrounding machinations. This marks the beginning of his life among the triads.

Triad member Hau-tin arrives intending to kill Yip and seize control, but Yip humiliates him by asking him to tie his shoes. Chung and the others shadow Yip as he remains more playful than violent.

Chung teaches Yip how to use guns and closely follows him with the other bodyguards, though Yip shows little real interest in violence and would rather play. This creates tension between Yip’s childlike nature and the criminal world around him.

The next day, Yip’s underlings encounter trouble at a toy store when a manager resists selling a motorcycle; 7.5 Taels’ henchmen force the sale. Later, Yip agrees to help Superintendent Lam by involving his men in an 'Anti-Violence Movement'.

Chi-lam, daughter of rival Master Dragon, plots to kill Yip to aid her father. Yip meets Chi-lam that night and instantly falls in love; they go out to dinner together, beginning a dangerous romance.

The day after their meeting, Yip and Chi-lam marry. Chi-lam plots to kill him at night, but hesitates when she sees a large portrait of herself in his bedroom, realizing she may love him instead.

Master Dragon won’t accept Yip as son-in-law until Yip can beat Dragon’s top henchmen. Chi-lam teaches Yip to fight and he quickly learns, defeating them; a henchman abducts Dragon’s younger daughter, but Yip kills him and gains Dragon’s approval.

Chi-lam’s sister reveals that Yip is not Wong Kau-tai, and Chi-lam murders a mob boss to protect the lie. Hau-tin informs the police, and Chi-lam is arrested at the mansion.

It becomes clear to everyone that Yip is not Wong; he flees with 7.5 Taels and his daughter as their car breaks down on the road. Chung arrives to trigger a staged standoff, but 7.5 Taels shoots Chung after Yip empties the gun himself.

Chi-lam’s sister arrives and ferries Yip and 7.5 Taels back to the mansion. Hau-tin tries to rape Chi-lam, and 7.5 Taels arrives with three guns; a fierce gun battle erupts as Hau-tin’s henchmen are defeated.

Hau-tin overpowers Yip, Chi-lam, and 7.5 Taels as bullets run dry, but Chung arrives, shoots Hau-tin’s gun, and Yip finally overpowers Hau-tin. After a moment of hesitation, Yip shoots Hau-tin dead, ending the threat.
