Ricky Coogin, a former child star, reluctantly agrees to endorse a hazardous fertilizer named Zygrot 24 after being lured by a lucrative offer from E.E.S.'s CEO. This decision marks the beginning of his downward spiral into chaos and madness.

Ricky boards a flight to the quaint town of Santa Flan, accompanied by his friend Ernie. This innocuous trip sets the stage for the life-altering events that follow.

During the flight, Ricky encounters Stuey Gluck, an avid admirer, who fervently warns him about the dangers of promoting Zygrot 24. Tragically, Stuey's desperate plea goes unheard as he plummets from the plane, foreshadowing the impending chaos.

Upon arriving in Santa Flan, Ricky and Ernie are met with fierce protests from environmentally aware citizens opposing Zygrot 24 and Ricky's endorsement. This tumultuous atmosphere introduces Ricky to Julie, a passionate activist who captures his heart.

Their adventure takes a bizarre turn when they visit Freek Land, a local freak show run by the mad scientist Elijah C. Skuggs. Here, a shocking transformation occurs as Skuggs turns Julie and Ernie into conjoined twins and Ricky into a grotesque creature.

As a freak in Skuggs's show, Ricky showcases a hidden talent in a Shakespearean monologue, which astonishes the audience. However, his moment of glory is quickly overshadowed by the recognition of an E.E.S. agent in attendance, igniting panic.
