Reid, Miles Robbins, a teenage video gamer who plays Planet Master and goes by the handle Fe@rLeSS_, becomes the first player to reach the game’s second-to-last level. In a revealing moment, the game's protagonist, Captain Lightspeed Jadakiss, explains that he has three children—Kira, Xander, and Titus—and that he brought them along for the final stretch. To protect the kids, Reid drops them off at a daycare before pressing on toward the final level, while Lightspeed attaches an interplanetary communicator to one of the babies so the daycare workers can call him in case of emergency.
But danger follows across the ether: Dr. Arcannis [Miguel], the nemesis of Lightspeed, tracks the babies and kidnaps them, imprisoning them aboard his spaceship to siphon their powers and conquer Earth. While in captivity, the babies unexpectedly unleash their abilities, slip free, and stumble into an escape pod that launches into space. The game presents a stark choice to Reid—“accept the consequences”—and, unaware of the real-world implications, the pod rides a wormhole toward Earth.
Back on Earth, General Jayne Blazerhatch [Gabrielle Union] leads the United States Armed Forces as they detect the strange intruder entering American airspace. The escape pod crashes behind Reid’s house, bringing the babies into a tense real-world intersection of video game spectacle and national security. At the same time, Melanie [Yara Shahidi], Reid’s school partner, arrives at his home to work on a science project. The two are startled to discover the unexpected visitors, and after a careful discussion, they agree to take responsibility for the babies and keep them safe. Arcannis, tracking the wormhole’s path to Earth, closes in, and the military scrambles to respond.
In the days that follow, Reid discovers the interplanetary communicator again and receives a call from Lightspeed, who explains that the babies are his offspring and that Arcannis is hunting them. A mishap—one of the babies knocks the device loose and it breaks—prevents Lightspeed from pinpointing their location. Melanie suggests they move to stay safe, and the two decide to vanish from sight for a while. Arcannis arrives at the home soon after they depart, promising to recover what’s his and to capture the flying youngsters.
The military, convinced the babies are dangerous aliens, pursues Reid and Melanie, but Arcannis arrives, defeats the troops, and seizes the babies for his ship. Reid hijacks a motorcycle from the chase and pursues the villain, while Melanie acts quickly to repair the interplanetary communicator by wiring it to a military handheld transceiver. This clever fix lets them reestablish contact with Lightspeed and share their location, rallying help to track Arcannis down.
With the newborns in tow, Reid and Melanie stow away on Arcannis’ ship, forcing the vessel to crash into a city. They escape the wreck with the babies in an escape pod, landing near the ship as Arcannis unleashes a transformed, more powerful form and an airborne robot army. The military struggles to halt the onslaught, but the babies gradually learn to control their powers and join the fight, countering Arcannis’ advances. A pivotal moment comes when they destroy a neck-mounted device that grants Arcannis the babies’ powers, cutting off his enhanced strength.
Lightspeed arrives shortly after the battle, relieved to see that the babies have harnessed their abilities and that Reid and Melanie are hailed as heroes. The crew returns to the game’s world, where the adventures began, and the two young allies find a moment of quiet victory—only to be interrupted by a new challenge: a monster from Planet Master appears, signaling that danger—and opportunity—still lie ahead for Reid and Melanie as they face whatever comes next together.
