Kannabiran, a lawyer at Madras High Court, lives in Thennaadu with his parents as a grand festival unites Shiva and Shakti in nearby Vadanaadu. The two villages share a tradition of cross-village marriages, which anchors hope for harmony despite suspicion. A sudden suicide of a Thennaadu woman who married a Vadanaadu man sows the seeds of a bitter rivalry that colors every future encounter.

With the tragedy, mistrust between Thennaadu and Vadanaadu hardens into open hostility, and the communities blame one another for the recent misfortune. The festive spirit dissolves into grudges, threatening to derail any chance of lasting peace. The feud begins to shape Kannabiran's world as he watches the cycle of revenge unfold.

Kannabiran marries Aadhini from Vadanaadu, hoping to bridge the communities through love and partnership. The union strengthens his resolve to fight injustice, even as it ties his fate to Vadanaadu's fortunes. This marriage also places him closer to the forces that will challenge him in the coming struggle.

Relatives of Inba's henchmen kill their own to punish the criminals, and Inba is killed by his father-in-law for murdering his daughter. Kosalai chastises Kannabiran for becoming a ruthless killer, while he insists that he only removed weeds harming society. The film ends with his vow to return, leaving his fate open-ended and unresolved.
