Ghayal Once Again

Ajay Mehra, Sunny Deol, walks out of prison and begins a dual life that blends journalism with vigilantism. He works for an independent newspaper as a reporter and also helps the police tackle cases that rarely see justice because the accused pull strings at the highest levels of power. One of the cases that marks his return is a brutal blow to a small town: a reporter named Renu is drugged and assaulted by a powerful media baron, Rajguru. The incident is covered up, and her innocent boyfriend is blamed, driving a wedge through a community already reeling from fear. Ajay steps in, driven by a personal code and a willingness to confront the powerful, and he abducts Rajguru, extracting a DNA sample that leads to an arrest. The public reaction is swift and dramatic, and Ajay is hailed as a sensational, if morally complicated, hero. Yet the victory is tempered by lingering anxiety, years of memories, and a mind that still replays the pain of the past. His psychiatrist girlfriend, Dr. Rhea, Soha Ali Khan, is there to help him navigate the recurring fears that haunt his nights and threaten his focus.

Meanwhile, ACP Joe D’Souza, Om Puri, has retired from the force and become a social activist, working to bring about change from the side of reform rather than enforcement. Ajay frequently collaborates with him, sharing information and pursuing different angles on cases that implicate powerful people. Their partnership is a steadying force, even as fate takes a darker turn. D’Souza is killed in a traffic accident in Panvel, a demise that shocks Ajay and others who trusted him. A blogger named Zoya Saigal, Diana Khan, stumbles onto a troubling truth: the video she captured shows that D’Souza was actually shot, not killed by a simple accident. Her discovery implicates Kabir Raj Bansal, the son of a ruthless business magnate, Raj Bansal. Zoya and her friends want to take the footage to the police, but a family elder warns them away, sensing the scope of Bansal’s power.

The investigation reveals that D’Souza had confronted Raj Bansal about illegal land grabs, and the magnate had tried to neutralize him with bribery and coercion. Kabir, a volatile and spoiled heir, lashes out violently, shooting D’Souza in a fit of rage and setting in motion a chain of events that blanket the city in fear once more. In an attempt to shield the children involved and navigate the dangers surrounding them, Anushka, Aanchal Munjal, and her allies seek a path to safety. Anushka turns to her grandfather’s advice and hands the video to Kriplani, a lawyer and friend of the family, Sachin Khedekar, hoping he can keep the children safe. Kriplani, however, does something unexpected: he quietly returns the evidence to Bansal, a decision that puts the kids in greater danger and pushes Rohan, Shivam Patil, and the others toward Ajay for protection.

As tensions escalate, Bansal and his men intensify their pursuit. The children are briefly captured again, and Ajay realizes that Anushka is more personally connected to his past than he knew. He discovers that Anushka is his late girlfriend Varsha’s daughter, a secret kept by her grandfather to shield Ajay from the truth after Varsha’s death. Kabir’s brutal treatment of Anushka marks a tipping point: Bansal, faced with his own moral conflict, urges Kabir to back off, but the crisis has already spiraled beyond control. Bansal orders the Home Minister to arrest Ajay, and a fierce confrontation erupts as Ajay fights his way through police lines to reach the Bansal mansion and rescue Anushka.

In a climactic sequence full of grit and resolve, Ajay breaches the mansion, confronts Kabir, and defeats him in a moment that tests both his physical limits and his deepest sense of justice. Bansal, moved by a rare moment of clarity and responsibility, apologizes to Ajay and Anushka, and then surrenders to the authorities along with his son. The aftermath finds Ajay and Anushka recovering in the hospital, surrounded by Rhea and their friends, a small circle of support that steadies them as the storm settles. The film closes on a note of hard-won justice, with Ajay continuing to balance his dual roles as a reporter and a protector, forever aware of the costs of truth and the responsibility that comes with power.
