Georgekutty Ajay Devgn started out as an orphan who had dropped out of school after the 4th grade, but he built a life as a shrewd cable television entrepreneur in the small village of Rajakkad. He is married to Shriya Saran and goes by the nickname Rani in the family circle; together they raise two daughters, Anju and Anu. Outside of family life, his passion is cinema—he spends most of his days in front of the TV in a modest office, weaving film plots in his head and winning the respect of the locals with his easygoing wisdom and storytelling flair. This blend of street smarts and love for movies makes him a trusted figure in their close-knit community.
During a nature camp, Anju is photographed in a bathroom by a hidden cell phone belonging to Varun Prabhakar, the spoiled son of Inspector General Geetha Prabhakar [Tabu]. Varun confronts Anju, attempting to coerce her into sex, and later arrives at the family home. Rani pleads with Varun to leave Anju alone and offers herself instead, a proposal he accepts only if Rani submits. In the ensuing struggle, Anju accidentally strikes Varun in the head, killing him. The family buries the body in a compost pit, a fact witnessed by Anu, who remains frightened and guilt-ridden as the event unfolds.
Rani rushes to inform Georgekutty, who immediately hatches a plan to shield his clan from the police. He disposes of Varun’s broken phone and hides Varun’s car, a move noticed by Sahadevan, a local constable with a personal grudge against him. With the danger closing in, Georgekutty chooses to take his family on a trip—first to a religious retreat, then to a movie and a restaurant—so they can present a solid alibi when questioned.
When Geetha launches a formal inquiry after Varun’s disappearance, Georgekutty anticipated the move and prepared a carefully crafted alibi. The family’s statements line up, and they show proof of their outings: restaurant visits, a cinema trip, and bus journeys. Geetha deconstructs each lead by visiting the establishments, but their testimonies upholds the alibi, even as she senses something is off. Her realization deepens when she notes that on the day of the incident, Georgekutty had actively gathered the tickets and bills—suggesting he had orchestrated the lies through acquaintances who were unaware they were lying for him.
Georgekutty and his family are arrested, and Sahadevan subjects them to brutal interrogation in an attempt to extract the truth. Geetha learns from Varun’s friend Alex that a video made by Varun involves Anju, threatening to ruin the family. Eventually, Anu breaks and reveals the place where the body is buried. After a dig at the compost pit, they uncover only the carcass of a cow, a chilling sign that Georgekutty had moved the body elsewhere.
In a public confrontation, the family goes to the media to expose Sahadevan’s torture, forcing a harsh response: Sahadevan is suspended and Geetha resigns from her post. With the institutional wheels turning against them, Georgekutty, now in remand, signs a register at the newly built police station and steps out into the world with a quiet defiance. The police inspector warns that the body will be found, but Georgekutty calmly states that he believes the police are there to help the people. In a final, shocking twist, it is revealed that Varun’s body had been buried beneath the police station itself, leaving the truth buried in plain sight.
