Lili, Mélanie Laurent a 19-year-old who returns from vacation to find that her twin brother Loïc, Mickael Trodoux, has left the house after a violent argument with their father, Paul Tellier Kad Merad. The close bond they shared makes her fear something terrible has happened to him. Her world feels suddenly unstable, and the quiet of the home weighs heavy as she tries to understand where Loïc has gone.

Struck by the abrupt separation, Lili stops eating and begins to lose strength, eventually ending up in the hospital where despair darkens her days. A letter from Loïc arrives, apologizing for leaving without a word or a return plan, making it painfully clear that he will not be coming back. He writes of traveling around, taking petty jobs, and blaming their father for the hand life has dealt him. The message leaves Lili clinging to a fragile hope while the ache of a missing brother grows larger.

Once she regains a foothold in life, Lili resolves to hunt for Loïc, following the thread of letters and clues that he left behind. She enlists Lea, Aïssa Maïga, and Thomas, Julien Boisselier, Lea’s boyfriend, to help her trace the trail across memories and distant places. As the search deepens, a quiet bond forms between Lili and Thomas, and their pages begin to fill with a tenderness that had not existed before—an emotional current that grows alongside the mystery of Loïc’s disappearance. Together they navigate the emotional terrain of loss, guilt, and the longing to feel connected again.

Their journey leads them to Saint-Aubin, where a trip to the past intersects with the present. Lili observes her father mailing letters, and the sight stirs a troubling possibility: could he be masking Loïc’s fate by mimicking his handwriting to keep Lili alive in the wake of his supposed disappearance? The tension of the moment lingers, and the sense that someone is concealing the truth sits heavy in the air.

Meanwhile, Thomas makes a somber discovery of his own when, at his grandmother’s grave, he confronts the reality that Loïc may be gone. He then arrives at Lili’s home for a family lunch, and in a moment of quiet honesty, he lets them know that he knows about Loïc’s death. The scene that follows unfolds with a heavy weight: the parents reveal that Loïc died in an accident while mountain climbing and beg Thomas not to tell Lili. Thomas struggles with what he believes versus what he’s been asked to shield, a conflict that tests his trust in what he’s been told.

The truth begins to surface in small, undeniable ways. Lili returns home to find her brother’s guitar hidden in her father’s car, a stark and undeniable symbol that Loïc could not have simply walked away. The moment crystallizes the reality they had denied for so long: Loïc did not leave by choice, and the life they imagined for him is not what it seemed.

Even as the truth becomes clearer, the family remains wary of discussing it openly. The knowledge binds Lili and Thomas in a new way, not just as seekers of the truth but as partners who share a fragile and evolving connection. With the past weighing on them, the pair rescue a spark of possibility by looking toward a future beyond the city—toward the sea, where they imagine starting anew and allowing themselves to breathe again.

In the end, the story lingers on the choice to keep moving forward together, despite the pain that tethered them for so long. The possibility of healing rests in embracing what they now know, choosing to face the horizon rather than the shadows of what was lost, and daring to hope that a life beyond the ache might still hold room for love.
