Dawn of the Dead

Tensions in the United States escalate as the dead begin to rise and devour the living. Political unrest adds to the chaos, creating a precarious situation in the city of Philadelphia.

Fran, a WGON-TV employee, learns from her program director Givens that he is broadcasting outdated survival information. Realizing the danger, she recognizes the urgency to escape the city and survive.

Fran's boyfriend, Stephen, arrives at the station, conveying the need for urgent action. He proposes a daring plan to steal a helicopter to escape and tells Fran to meet him on the roof by 9 PM.

In a nearby area, the SWAT team prepares to storm an apartment building occupied by refugees who refuse to leave. A violent confrontation erupts with armed bandits, showcasing the desperation of the situation.

Amidst the chaos, Roger, a SWAT trooper, meets Peter, another trooper who shares his disillusionment with their violent mission. They bond over a cigarette and agree to escape together, seeking survival amidst the horror.

Stephen and Fran's helicopter arrives at an abandoned police station pier for refueling. They encounter a group of rogue policemen but are saved by the appearance of Roger and Peter, who join them in their escape.

The group lands at a deserted airport to refuel, only to be met with an attack from lurking zombies. Stephen struggles to protect Fran, leading to his frustration while Roger steps in to defend against the undead.

The group spots a deserted shopping mall and decides to land and investigate. Inside, they find a wealth of supplies, realizing they have potential for long-term survival within its walls despite the zombie threat outside.

Using the mall's layout, the group begins to gather supplies while establishing a livable space. Despite Fran’s initial reservations, the group settles into their new environment, finding a temporary refuge.

As Roger is bitten by a zombie, the group comes to terms with his impending fate. They care for him, but ultimately prepare for the tragic decision of ending his life if he reanimates.

Peter prepares a romantic dinner in a rare moment of normalcy. During dinner, Stephen proposes to Fran, who declines, revealing the deep emotional scars the apocalypse has left on their relationships.

The group endures months of isolation as they adjust to life in the mall. Tensions rise among them as they grapple with the claustrophobia of their sanctuary and the disintegration of their mental well-being.

The group faces a new threat when motorcycle-riding survivalists attempt to raid the mall. Peter wisely avoids confrontation, but Stephen's misplaced loyalty leads to his tragic encounter with both zombies and bikers.

When Stephen succumbs to zombie transformation, Peter is forced to make the gut-wrenching decision to end Stephen's life. With Fran preparing to escape, Peter resolves to confront his own fate amongst the undead.

In a desperate last-minute decision, Peter fights through the horde of zombies to reach Fran in the helicopter. They manage to take off just before it's too late, leaving behind their haunting sanctuary for an uncertain future.
