Determined to uncover the truth behind his parents' murder, Tam leaves home to search for answers. He photographs a suspect as a key clue and travels to Malaysia to pursue Brother Chai.

Chai tells Tam that his parents were drug traffickers and that their deaths were drug-related. He hints that Uncle Bo and Fai hold further clues, pushing Tam to keep digging.

Tam returns to his place to find it burgled and a key object missing from a dark shelf. He believes the item is vital evidence connected to his parents' deaths, heightening the urgency of the case.

Being in a foreign country, Tam hires Cheng Fung-hei to help with the investigation. Their partnership marks a formal step in pursuing the truth.

Tam and Fung-hei come under attack as they investigate, while Chai disappears and Bo is killed. The violent events escalate the danger surrounding Tam's quest.

Chai's adopted daughter Chi-wai believes the coveted object has fallen into the hands of Tai-kwan at Chai's former Guangzhou residence. Her theory redirects the investigation toward mainland China.

Tam travels to Guangzhou with Chi-wai to pursue the lead, while Fung-hei remains in Malaysia to push other lines of inquiry. The split allows parallel pursuit of different pieces of evidence.

Fung-hei obtains a box of silent tape and hands it to Officer Ma, hoping it will yield crucial evidence. The tape is expected to expose connections to Ching's network.

Tam receives a box of Super 8 film containing a hidden password. The password hints at a deeper conspiracy behind his parents' death and may unlock what the others missed.

Tam and Chi-wai return to Malaysia and split up; Tam reunites with Fung-hei to continue their work, while Chi-wai hands the password to the police. The password becomes a formal lead in the case.

Tam and Fung-hei are taken into custody under the orders of Tung Ching, the man who killed Tam's parents. This arrest reveals the intent to erase the investigators and protect Ching's drug empire.

Ching explains that decades ago he and Tam's parents ran a transportation company used to move drugs. When the parents refused to participate, Ching killed them to safeguard his operation.

Ching attempts to kill Tam and Fung-hei but is shot. As he tries to flee by car, he is crushed to death by Bo's son who seeks vengeance for his father.

Bo's son intervenes to help Tam and Fung-hei escape, while police recover the password and silent tape. The evidence leads to the disintegration of Ching's organization and drug manufacturing.
