After the passing of his mother, Kate, in Chicago, Charlie Countryman finds himself grappling with immense grief. In a poignant moment at the hospital, he encounters her spirit, seeking guidance on his life’s next steps. She urges him to travel to Bucharest, which she feels is the right direction for him. On his flight, he meets Victor, an elderly man returning home post a Cubs game and wearing a whimsical hat for his daughter. Upon arriving in Bucharest, Charlie faces some hurdles with the authorities over the hat but soon meets Gabi, who quickly captures his heart. After gifting her the present from her father, they share a brief moment before Gabi reveals her distress over her father’s death. As she races against time to catch up with the ambulance carrying Victor’s body, an unfortunate car crash occurs, complicating matters further for Charlie and Gabi. Inside her bag, Charlie stumbles upon a revolver with a heartfelt inscription, hinting at a complicated relationship in Gabi’s life.
