Ganesh is an auto driver with a big heart who goes out of his way to earn money for the sake of the poor and those in need. He craves the spotlight and knows that the media will sensationalize anything connected to the city’s famous faces. To feed his hunger for attention, he embarks on audacious stunts, including kidnapping a businessman and, in another instance, manipulating the authorities by confessing to a murder of an MLA that he did not commit. His bold moves generate sensational headlines and constant media attention, but they also create a turbulent and uneasy climate for the police, who are left to untangle a web of misdirection. As Ganesh repeatedly toys with the press and authorities, the public comes to know him as “Publicity” Ganesh, a nickname that reflects both his tricks and the obsession with fame that surrounds him.
Devanayaki runs a local restaurant and, intriguingly, a fleet of autos bears her name in the neighborhood. She is deeply enamored with Ganesh and pursues him with a determined devotion, adding a layer of personal complication to his public exploits. Meanwhile, Anjali enters Ganesh’s life offering him roles in advertisement films for a handsome payoff; however, she is not merely a talent scout—she is an undercover agent investigating Ganesh’s murky past.
The film unfolds a sorrowful backstory through a flashback that sheds light on Ganesh’s current choices. His father is a principled clerk working at a coastal district’s collectorate. A devastating natural disaster devastates the area, leaving many homeless, and the government allocates a substantial sum—Rs. 20 crore—to aid recovery and rehabilitation. Yet a corrupt alliance among the local assistant collector, the MLA, and the local SP diverts or hides the funds, pretending to safeguard the public interest. Ganesh’s father stumbles upon the trio’s misconduct and vows to expose them. Instead of accountability, the father becomes a target of deceit: false charges are leveled, and public outrage is redirected away from the corrupt officials and onto Ganesh’s family. In the ensuing confrontation, Ganesh’s family is burned alive, and he escapes to the city with a burning resolve to avenge them.
Fueled by grief and a desire for justice, Ganesh orchestrates a calculated series of acts aimed at dismantling the corrupt network responsible for his family’s suffering.
