Bright: Samurai Soul

In 1868, Izou battles fiercely among the soldiers at Edo Castle to protect the Shogun Yoshinobu Tokugawa. The conflict reaches a moment of wonder when a single Elf named Bright casts a magical spell, illuminating the battlefield and stunning everyone in its vicinity.

As time passes, the regime in Japan shifts to the Meiji Restoration, and Izou finds himself employed as a guard at a brothel in Kyoto. In this new environment, he is assigned to lock up a troublesome elf girl, setting the stage for ensuing events.

While delivering items to the High Courtesan Chihaya, Izou downplays a wound on his hand and learns about Chihaya's mysterious past. Their curiosity leads them to check on the elf girl, who has a nasty attitude but catches Chihaya's interest.

In a tender moment, Chihaya feeds her new attendant, Sonya, and discovers her Russian origins, creating a bond between them. Meanwhile, Izou contemplates the rain, which aggravates his wound, hinting at deeper connections to his past.

Chaos erupts as two warriors enter the brothel, assassinating Izou's superior. While Chihaya reveals her elfish nature and memories to Sonya, the brothel is suddenly attacked by an invading army composed of Orcs, Goblins, and Dwarves, leading to tragedy.

As invaders wreak havoc in the brothel, Izou retrieves his katana and engages in fierce combat against the intruders. Amid the chaos, Chihaya protects Sonya, leading to a fateful confrontation with the leader of the invaders.

In the midst of battle, Chihaya remembers her identity as an Elf while battling the invader leader. In a desperate moment, she uses her hairpin to cast a powerful spell, injuring the leader but ultimately receiving a fatal wound herself.

With time running out, Sonya awakens and tries to protect Chihaya but ultimately loses her. After being enveloped in a barrier of light, Izou arrives in the aftermath, and they make a narrow escape from the chaos with Raiden’s unexpected help.

The following day, Izou creates a grave for Chihaya while Sonya insists she would have wanted to go to the land of the Elves, Hakodate. Meanwhile, Raiden binds himself to their group, breaking off his fang as a pledge of loyalty against the forces hunting them.

As Izou, Sonya, and Raiden travel onward, they face suspicions from locals at an inn. However, their true mission brings them closer together, as they continue the search for Sonya's whereabouts amidst rumors of Elf kidnappings.

In a cave, they meet the centaur Tsukuyomi, who offers insights about the factions after them and the significance of the magical Wands. He reveals that the Stars foretold of Sonya's survival, offering hope in their quest.

In Yokohama, Izou is confronted by his haunted past while his companions find clues regarding Sonya’s fate. He learns that Chihaya's hairpin is actually a wand, increasing the urgency of their mission to save her.

The group tracks down the Inferni estate where Sonya is held captive. Izou faces his former master Kōketsu but is initially paralyzed by shock, allowing Kōketsu to escape while they regroup with the Shield of Light.

As the climactic battle unfolds onboard the Inferni boat, Raiden falls in battle, and Izou confronts Kōketsu once more. In a moment of grieving desperation, Sonya uses the wand within Izou’s possession to revive him, turning the tide of their fate.

After the confrontation, Sonya prepares to leave with the Shield of Light, while Izou discards the wand into the ocean, signifying a new era where humans take responsibility for their own destinies. With bonds formed in battle, the trio moves forward into the unknown.
