Bloody New Year

On New Year's Eve 1959, a group of hotel partygoers vanish without a trace during a festive celebration. The empty corridors and unanswered questions set the ominous mood for what follows. The event seeds the island’s haunting mystery.

Years after the disappearances, couples Lesley and Tom, Janet and Rick, and their friend Spud visit a seaside funfair. They rescue Carol from three hooligans and escape by boat, only to run aground and become stranded on Grand Island. Their attempt to leave plunges them into a nightmarish timeline.

The stranded teens stumble upon the Grand Island Hotel, which appears deserted yet festooned with Christmas decorations in July. The cheerful oddity hints at something supernatural beneath the surface. They press onward in search of shelter and answers.

Spud finds towels and is handed one by a maid-like apparition. He follows haunting music to the ballroom, where a duo on stage vanishes before his eyes. In the nearby theatre, a promotional reel brings figures into the real lobby, and one bursts through the screen to kill Spud.

With hope fading, the group splits to search for a way off the island. Lesley and Tom shelter in a cottage by the shore, where Lesley is attacked by a monstrous figure that disappears when Tom impales it. The encounter confirms the island’s supernatural dangers.

Janet and Rick hear disembodied voices in the woods and witness a plane crash into a nearby building. The strange sounds and events deepen the sense that time on the island is broken. They press on despite the escalating peril.

Carol finds herself trapped inside the hotel as a sudden snowstorm rages outside—an impossible weather shift that heightens the sense of a waking nightmare. The others experience related enigmas as they search for an exit. The storm underscores the time-manipulating forces at work.

The hooligans return to the island aboard a second boat and attack the group. Dad impales Lesley, who then transforms into a zombie and kills Dad and The Bear. The zombie-resurrection twist confirms the island’s curse is ongoing.

Rick shoots Lesley with an old shotgun, seemingly ending her zombie resurgence. The survivors face a brief reprieve, but the island’s supernatural loop remains active. The others brace for what could come next.

An injured Tom returns to the hotel and turns into a zombie, chasing Janet. She flees to the lift with Tom in pursuit, and the lift rises, severing Tom’s arm. A featureless figure envelops Janet and drags her into the walls of the lift.

Carol and Rick witness additional hauntings as Ace is killed in the kitchen after falling into a large vat. The supernatural activity intensifies, and the survivors face mounting danger. The hotel’s cursed history continues to collide with their reality.

In the ballroom, Carol and Rick meet a woman resembling the zombified Lesley who explains they are trapped in a time warp caused by a crashed aircraft carrying an experimental cloaking device on New Year's Eve 1959. The revelation reframes the odd events as a looping nightmare rather than isolated hauntings. Escape may be impossible while the loop holds.

The survivors reach the shore and attempt to flee on the hooligans’ boat, but Rick is trapped in quicksand and killed by the zombified Dad, who slices his head with an outboard motor propeller. Carol is pulled through the boat’s floor into the water after a forceful pull. The nightmare seems to tighten its grip.

Carol emerges behind a mirror in the ballroom, where her friends and the restored-looking hooligans are cheerfully celebrating New Year’s. As the image fades to black, a woman’s scream hints that the terror may forever endure. The film closes with a chilling reminder of the island’s loop.
