The night of a shipwreck leaves six English teenagers stranded on a remote island, where the only refuge they find is the grand, abandoned Grand Island Hotel. Inside, glittering New Year’s décor shines incongruously against a July heat, casting a surreal glow over faded ballroom lights and silent corridors. The building itself feels alive, its walls humming with a subtle, menacing pulse that suggests it may be more than a shelter.

Lesley and Tom, a confident couple, arrive with their friends Janet and Rick, a pair whose witty banter masks an underlying tension. Their companion Spud brings a steadier, protective presence, while the enigmatic Carol—an American tourist they rescued—adds an outsider’s curiosity to the mix.
