Tyler and Natalie spend a romantic night at a wooded campsite with the plan for a marriage proposal. They fall asleep together, cherishing the moment. They are suddenly awakened by a slow, deliberate knock coming from the woods, signaling an unseen threat.

The night is shattered when Natalie is dragged into the forest by an unseen creature. Tyler calls out, but there is no reply from the darkness. He searches frantically as the woods swallow the evidence of what happened.

Twelve months pass and Tyler is released from Cowlitz County Psych Ward and brought home by his mother. She returns Natalie's and his belongings recovered from the scene, including his camera. Reviewing the photos, Tyler spots a huge shape in the background and decides to investigate.

With his mother's blessing, Tyler reviews the recovered pictures and spots a massive shape looming in the background. He resolves to return to the forest to find answers. Armed with a hunting rifle and camping gear, he heads back into the woods.

On his return trek, Tyler discovers signs in the forest claiming ownership by Xylon Incorporated and warning against trespassing. He also finds a massive footprint in the mud, hinting at a large, dangerous intruder. The clues suggest a more organized force protecting the land.

Refilling at a creek, Tyler's camping gear is stolen. He spends the night in his truck, armed with his rifle and revolver. In the early morning, a huge creature shoves a felled tree through his windows, and he fires two shots in response.

A fellow hunter named Eli comes to investigate the disturbance and offers Tyler a spot at his camp. Tyler accepts, hoping for safety and information. At the camp, Tyler asks about Xylon Incorporated, but Eli says he has never seen any company employee on the land.

Eli guides Tyler to a clearing marked by Chinook bone symbols and shares local legends about creatures not friendly to man. He reveals he is searching for what he calls ‘the Big Man,’ a being tied to the land’s mysteries. The conversation deepens the sense of danger around the forest.

Back at the camp, a tree has been uprooted and shoved into the fire pit, signaling that something hostile is nearby. The two venture beyond the symbols as a roar echoes in the distance. They move deeper into the forest, aware of the menace stalking them.

Tyler and Eli's expedition leads them into a marshy area where a boulder is hurled from the trees, breaking Eli's leg. Tyler fires at the Beast to defend them and drags Eli to safety as snow begins to fall. The danger becomes personal and immediate.

Leaving Eli's camp to gather his gear, Tyler goes to the feeding ground to retrieve his backpack. He finds Natalie's engagement ring in the dirt as the Beast reappears. He readies himself with makeshift weapons for a final confrontation.

Tyler sets a trap at the camp and uses Eli's truck horn to lure the Beast there. He detonates a propane tank with a flare, engulfing the Beast in flames. The creature bolts into the forest, leaving Tyler exhausted but alive.

An exhausted Tyler staggers onto a mountain highway and collapses. He wakes in a hospital where a man named Jackson Wells introduces himself and explains he believes in monsters because he’s seen them too. Wells reveals he’s recruiting Tyler for a team, hinting at a larger mission beyond the forest.
