In the plush confines of Wayne Manor, billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne and his steadfast partner Dick Grayson revel in their favorite television show, Gotham Palace. Their evening of relaxation is abruptly interrupted by an unexpected twist: the scheduled musical act has been hijacked by none other than four infamous villains - the unpredictable Clown Prince of Crime (Joker), the shrewd Penguin, the mysterious Riddler, and the alluring Catwoman. Without a moment’s hesitation, Bruce and Dick transform into their superhero personas, Batman and Robin, racing to the Gotham City Police Department to decipher a cryptic message delivered by Commissioner Gordon and Chief O’Hara.
As the Dynamic Duo embarks on their mission, they uncover the villains’ audacious plan to steal a powerful device from the Acme Atomic Energy Laboratory: the Replication Ray, an invention with the astonishing ability to duplicate any object. A brief yet intense skirmish follows, but the villains narrowly escape Batman’s grasp, leaving behind a tantalizing clue that leads our heroes to their lair hidden within an abandoned TV dinner factory.
Upon infiltrating the lair, Batman and Robin confront levels of treachery they hadn’t anticipated. Catwoman unveils her scheme to coerce Batman into joining their villainous ranks through a mysterious substance called “Batnip.” Batman’s resilience is put to the ultimate test as he and Robin find themselves ensnared and suspended perilously over a path leading to an infernal oven. In this vulnerable state, Catwoman attempts to exploit the Batnip on Batman, yet to her surprise, he shows an unexpected resistance.
Once freed from their precarious situation after the villains depart, Batman and Robin return to Wayne Manor. There, Bruce’s demeanor begins to change drastically after Harriet Cooper’s unintentional introduction to the Batcave. Frustrated and confused, Bruce directs his anger at Alfred Pennyworth, leading to the butler’s abrupt dismissal, forcing him onto the streets as a homeless man.
With the villains eluding capture, Batman deduces that they have abandoned their earthly pursuits to hijack a space station. Teaming up with Robin, they launch a daring interstellar mission aboard their trusty Bat-Rocket. Upon arriving at the space station, an unexpected betrayal unfolds as Joker, Penguin, and Riddler plot against Catwoman, driven by their suspicions towards her feelings for Batman. Just as she is about to be thrown into the abyss of space, Batman and Robin execute a timely rescue.
Together, the trio wreak havoc on their adversaries, with Batman delivering a decisive beatdown while reclaiming the stolen Replication Ray. However, in the turmoil, Catwoman manages to escape unnoticed in a pod, leaving behind intrigue and unresolved tension that challenge our heroes’ resolve.
As Bruce’s attitude sharpens, Dick becomes increasingly alarmed at his escalating aggression. In a sudden fit of rage, Bruce expels Dick from Wayne Manor, leading to a temporary cessation of his Batman duties and opening the door for rampant crime across Gotham. Weeks pass before the Dark Knight re-emerges at the GCPD, berating the police for their ineptness and assigning blame for the city’s crime wave. With a chilling determination, he turns the Replication Ray on himself, creating duplicates of Gotham’s citizens, politicians, and jobs in a sinister bid for world domination. Meanwhile, Dick sees the repercussions of the Batnip on Bruce and seeks Catwoman’s aid, approaching her as Robin for help against Batman’s altered state.
Catwoman accepts the challenge, recognizing the Batnip’s effects were more dangerous than she imagined. Together, they commandeer the advanced Catmobile, racing to the Batcave where Catwoman tries to administer an antidote to Bruce. Anticipating this move, Batman has preemptively ingested the Bat Anti-Antidote, rendering her efforts futile. In a brutal clash, Batman overwhelms both his former sidekick and Catwoman, leaving them for dead in the raging Atomic Pile. Miraculously, thanks to Robin’s ingenious use of Bat Anti-Isotope Spray, they survive.
Realizing they cannot defeat an army of Batmen without a tactical advantage, Robin and Catwoman disguise themselves as prison inspectors to infiltrate Gotham State Penitentiary. By exploiting Warden Crichton’s worries about prison conditions, they slyly replace essential tools with modified versions that assist in the villains’ escape, including Joker, Penguin, and Riddler. Although the prison guard claims they have not escaped, the trio mysteriously vanishes into dust, leaving behind mere rumors.
As Batman’s enemies converge at the Gotham Palace set, tension mounts. Despite being outnumbered, Batman and his allies struggle to gain the upper hand. As Robin and Catwoman teeter on the edge of defeat, an unexpected ally appears: Alfred, disguised, who hands Batman a celebratory bottle of champagne infused with an antidote powerful enough to counteract the Bat Anti-Antidote’s effects. With his senses returning, Batman’s self-created duplicates dissolve, exposing the fragile nature of his plans.
The unseen machinations of Joker, Penguin, and Riddler resurface as they manipulate Batman, fuelling his vulnerabilities by spiking Batnip with the Joker’s Laughing Gas. Cold logic gives way to chaotic scenes at the Gotham Art Museum, where the Caped Crusader, along with Robin and Catwoman, catches their adversaries in the act. This chase spills into the skies aboard Penguin’s blimp, resulting in a thrilling aerial confrontation. In a last-ditch effort to evade capture, Catwoman tries to make off with stolen treasures, but Batman intervenes, thwarting her escape. Ultimately, she opts for a dramatic surrender to gravity, descending into a smokestack.
With the tumult of battle behind them, Bruce and Dick organize a surprise birthday party for Harriet, crafting an elaborate ruse to keep it hidden from her. As the night unfolds in celebration, their revelry is interrupted by the urgent call of the Bat-Signal, prompting our heroes into action once more.
