On her birthday, Princess Annika goes outside to ice skate without permission and brings home a “possibly dangerous” polar bear cub named Shiver. As a consequence, the overprotective King Marcus, [Russell Roberts], and Queen Elvina, [Kathleen Barr], forbid her from skating ever again.

Annika, feeling stifled, sneaks out to join a village skating festival that night. A powerful sorcerer named Wenlock [Russell Roberts] appears and insists that the princess marry him. When Annika refuses, Wenlock petrifies the entire village, including her parents, and the fearless youngster is left to face the danger alone. She is rescued by a winged horse named Brietta, [Lalainia Lindbjerg], who carries her away toward safety even as Wenlock ominously warns that he will not be denied.

The Cloud Kingdom holds the key to defeating Wenlock. The Cloud Queen Rayla, the wise ruler of the skies, reminds Annika that the only thing that can defeat the sorcerer is a Wand of Light—crafted from a measure of courage, a ring of love, and a gem of ice lit by hope’s eternal flame. Although Brietta hesitates because past attempts have failed, Annika convinces her that they can forge the wand together, and the two set off on a quest to gather the missing pieces.

Their journey leads them to the Forbidden Forest, where they meet Aidan, [Mark Hildreth], a skilled blacksmith with a troubled past. When Shiver and Annika tumble into a giant’s stew, the young princess uses her hair ribbon—her exact height—as a symbol of courage, and it magically transforms into a staff for the Wand of Light. Aiding their quest, a map from the gem dealer Ferris, [Brian Drummond], guides them to a vast cavern glittering with ice gems. Annika and Aidan each claim a gem, while Brietta offers her tiara to complete the ring of love.

With all three components gathered, Aidan smiths the Wand of Light, and Annika uses it to transform Brietta back into a human. Their return is marred by Wenlock’s pursuit, and Brietta is knocked unconscious in the chase. In a moment of heated resolve, Annika orders the wand to destroy Wenlock, but the magic falters. Facing a perilous choice, she initially agrees to marry Wenlock, hoping that would spare her people. Wenlock snatches the wand and buries Annika in an avalanche, a cruel setback that Kathy Barr’s other roles have warned could come to pass.

Aidan helps dig Annika out, and the trio bravely infiltrates Wenlock’s palace. The wand is damaged, and the gem falls into the sea, but Aidan offers up his own gem as a substitute. Realizing that vengeance cannot heal her world, Annika rejects the cycle of cruelty and instead breaks Wenlock’s spells through love for her family and her people. Wenlock is stripped of his powers, his ex-wives are restored, and the spell on the kingdom dissolves.

Reunited with their parents, Annika and Brietta celebrate the restored peace, while Aidan makes amends with his father. In the Cloud Kingdom, Annika and Aidan share a quiet moment of skating as Rayla lifts the Wand of Light into the sky, where it shines as a star, a beacon of courage, love, and hope for all who call this realm home.
