Caedmon, the aging and inept wizard, is tasked by Grand-Wizard Vanir with training the young farmhand Tyor in the arts of magic, for he is the Chosen One destined to free the three kingdoms from the rule of three evil sorcerers who wield power through three magical objects.
To prove himself, [Tyor] must pass a test in each kingdom. In the first realm, Baldor, he must free Erman to spark an uprising and confront the evil sorcerer Loki, who holds three maidens hostage. Loki’s power comes from the Amulet of Light, but [Tyor] uses his training to disarm him and turn the sorcerer to stone with his own weapon.
With the aid of Amathea, a skilled princess, they liberate her kingdom of Venir from Donar. As the second test, [Tyor] is tasked by Vanir to face Donar alone and seize his power, the magical [Sword of Justice]. Inside the castle, he nearly succumbs to the enchantment of Freyja, Donar’s mistress, but resists and claims the sword. At dawn, [Amathea] leads an assault on Donar’s coliseum and frees her kingdom, but Donar escapes to Zarz, the third kingdom ruled by Zarz.
On their journey, they meet the legendary Dark One, and he agrees to aid their mission to liberate Zarz. The Dark One defeats the Protector, a monster guarding Zarz’s castle, but [Tyor], [Caedmon], and Idun are captured. The Dark One then takes back the [Sword of Justice] and helps rally the townsfolk in their uprising, joining forces with [Erman] and [Amathea] to push back Zarz. Zarz escapes to the third realm, continuing the struggle.
Zarz confronts [Tyor] at the final stage, attempting to tempt him with a magical chalice as his final test, but Tyor resists. Meanwhile, [Caedmon] fights the sorcerers but is overpowered; just as they are about to kill him, [Tyor] unleashes his magic and defeats [Donar]. Zarz faces [Tyor], now armed with the Sword of Justice that the Dark One returned to him, and is impaled by the weapon’s magical strike.
Vanir appears and tasks the Dark One with naming the new ruler of the now united kingdoms, who chooses [Erman] and [Amathea] as king and queen. [Tyor], now in possession of the sword, chalice and amulet, is named the new Grand-Wizard by Vanir and charged with training Caedmon and continuing their journey through training and travel. The Dark One returns to his inn.
