Bad Attitudes

During the first summer at Spirit of the Frontier, Dabney and Cosmo torment Bruce during hikes, obstacle courses, and chores. Their attitude problems linger and even worsen as the season ends. They are oddly proud that their behavior hasn't improved, and they accept they'll have to return next year.

At the next summer’s airport, the campers reunite with three other kids and a counselor, while Norman Decker is seen walking his doberman. Mr. Bane delivers a briefcase to Decker, and Katyana and Jurgen observe with growing intent to kidnap him for a billion-dollar ransom. The setup foreshadows the hijacking plan.

Decker and Bane board Decker's private jet, stash the briefcase and the doberman aboard, and depart. They move toward departure while the campers' plans are already under way in parallel.

Jenny pays the counselor to get lost and James reveals that Bruce was tied up in a cleaning closet. Angela is quiet, wearing headphones, while Dabney and Cosmo join the others as they are chased by security and slip aboard Decker's plane.

Katyana and Jurgen board the aircraft to kidnap Decker. They exchange gunfire with police as they seal the door, but they can't locate Decker and assume the kids are with him, so they radio a demand for one billion dollars.

Cosmo explains that his dad's pilot sometimes lets him fly, and, while taxiing on the runway, he accidentally takes off. The hijackers and the new aerial passengers realize they're airborne and direction of the plan shifts.

The adults react to the crisis by assuming the police response is due to the kids' antics, not the hijacking. They are shown as wealthy, self-absorbed, and largely unconcerned with their children's safety.

Inside the aircraft, the children seize control, with Katyana in charge and Jurgen eager for respect. They subdue the hijackers, steal their weapons, and tie them up using the plane's flotation devices, while Angela's Doberman stands guard.

Interspersed with the hijacking action, Bane and Decker’s covert conversations reveal Decker is broke and intended to blow up the plane for insurance money. Bane eventually loses his nerve and turns himself in to the police along with Decker.

Police brief the crew on defusing the bomb, and James volunteers to take a dangerous step. He bungee-jumps from the emergency exit to detach the detonator from the landing gear, stopping the countdown in flight.

With the bomb defused, Cosmo must land the plane and receives guidance from air traffic control. He manages a successful touchdown, ending the in-flight emergency.

Fearing punishment for their antics, the children decide to release Katyana and Jurgen to show the hijackers were the ones in control all along. They hope to lessen blame on themselves.

The hijackers sprint to surrender to law enforcement to escape the kids' influence and exit the jet under guard. Authorities take them into custody.

The children are hailed as heroes and reconcile with their families after the ordeal. They reflect on the wild adventure and look forward to going home.
